What was your First F1 Game

Recommended Posts

Grand Prix World...in 2013. Fantastic manager game, albeit you can only really get it from torrenting or a rare (expensive) occurrence on eBay or something and then spending an hour changing the majority of your PC settings. But an actual racing game? F1 2014, then F1 2012, then F1 2015.

First licensed F1 game was Formula One on playsation.
But first Formula 1 stye racing game was chequered flag on ZX spectrum. 1983
Funnily, Formula 1 on PS1 was running under Fuji Television's license, and not direct from FOCA (though Fuji was licensed by FOCA of course). Just shows how flexible the F1 licensing was back before CVC Capital came in with their corporation antics and ruined the sport by creating FOM.

I played F1 97 on ps1 first and still have it now but own all of the following:

F1 99, F1 2000, F1 championship season 2000 for PS1
Formula one 2001 through to 2006 , F1 2001 and 2002 (EA), Grand Prix Challenge, F1 Career Challenge all on PS2
Grand Prix 3 & 4 and F1 Manager on PC
F1 Championship Edition for PS3
F1 2009 on PSP
F1 2010 to 2015 on Xbox

think it's a collection or an obsession one of the two. Hahaha.

F1 Championship Edition for the PS3. I still play it from time to time. I played it all the way up 'til CM released F1 2010. Amazing game.

Does Enduro on the Atari counts? Pole Position on the arcades?
After that i think Nigel Mansell on the SNES (my Cousin had both Super Monaco GP's on the Mega Drive, so i played that too).

By the time GP3 came out i was already saving to buy a steering wheel.

F1 2012 for PS3.
Have: 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 for PS3 and 2015 for PS4 even though the force feedback for a steering wheel sucks on all of them. 8^(
Motorsport lover here ! 8^)

well i can say it all begun with gp2.. but i was too young back then and had totally no clue about what i was doing nor what i had to do, all i can remember is me crashing into the ai cars lol.
After that ther's been a big time gap in which i never played racing games with few exceptions (like colin mcrae rally, trackmania..).
So my first properly played F1 game was F1 2012, that game was great but the braking was horrible compared to F1 2104/2015

I plan to purchase every F1 game released going forward - just an FYI. I hope Codemasters remain the sole provider of the game, as there is nothing like experience. Also, Codemasters should consider doing an advert in collaboration with the FIA about the game - advertise, advertise, advertise.

f1 world grand prix 97 on Nintendo 64 was my first!
Was that the one with the unlockable gold and silver cars and that crazy volcano track? Whichever N64 F1 game that was, it was my first.

I remember one on the N64 where you could swap drivers around. Damon Hill would still be pole every race even when you put him in a Ligier.

Depends what you consider an “F1 title”. The first one I played that felt like the F1 games we know today was Geoff Crammond’s Microprose Grand Prix on the Amiga (1991). Prior to that though I’d played F1 arcade games like Nigel Mansell’s Grand Prix (Spectrum, 1988), CRL’s excellent Formula One management sim (Spectrum, 1985), and going back further than that, the distinctly unlicensed but still F1-based 3D Grand Prix (ZX81, 1983ish?).
