More realism features

Just a few thoughts on increasing realism (I've already talked about manual starts and pit-lane freedom on the forum, but other things)

Thinking about it, these games don't exactly have the most realistic crash simulations. Most of the time its just a slight bump or something, especially when it comes to puncturing other cars. Also, maybe things like the digging in and flipping like Alonso in Australia would be interesting to see, and just add another level to the realism. Obviously I'm not asking for something like BeamNG's deformation models, but maybe make it a little more sensitive to contact, or at least give an option to increase sensitivity (though people generally mod this in anyway). Also I remember before in 2013, you could get hit hard enough from behind, and the engineer would tell you that there is diffuser or rear wing damage, but it literally meant nothing to the car's drivability. Maybe increase sensitivity there as well.

Also in wet weather, things like the curbs and astroturf should be made extremely slippery like in games like Forza. So its a bit more challenging. Maybe even throw in safety car starts and more frequent red flags if too many incidents occur in the wet. I know they had reds before but that literally only happened if a pile up stopped nearly every car on the track.

Also, a way to request a strategy reconsideration mid race should be introduced as one of the engineer options. And then they could respond with where you would expect to exit in terms of track position. Maybe even vary it by track, so in Monaco, the engineer would be like "heck no, you'll never make it back up". Also, if you don't call for a stop ahead, they could fumble around with tires like Verstappen did in Australia. Speaking of strategy, maybe even preselect front wing levels for the pit crew to change when they change the tires.

Lastly, fuel management should actually be a more difficult thing, and players should get to manage their fuel usage a bit more carefully than just high medium low. Have more engine controls, and change the ERS maps to increase deployment for a sprint on an outlap or something, or decrease ERS to save up for a massive overtaking boost. Add a battery and fuel gauge to the HUD. Basically more precise battery management throughout the lap. Even use the rain light to indicate "derating" like in reality. Again, make it an option, so the casual gamer can have this done automatically, but us hardcore fans can really control whats happening.

Just a few thoughts. Obviously I know that these probably won't make it into 2016 at this point, but maybe for 2017, along with the car revamp, they can revamp the gameplay as well! These ideas have been mentioned throughout the forums but I thought I'd compile a list so they're more visible. Let me know if you've got any more suggestions! Thanks!

seems like with all the people that dive bomb and run into each other  realistic damage would be the last thing you want. No one would ever finish a race. Most players don't hit you on purpose, it just happins. Then there you are, knocked out of the race again for the hundreds time because someone screwed up.

Maybe not super-realistic, but enough that on tracks like Monaco or Canada, its not possible to use the walls as part of you lap, by bouncing off. I've seen people do that in multiplayer. Also no one really gets rear punctures from being hit so that would be nice. Again not as sensitive as reality but enough to discourage bumper cars :P

I really would love to see like an ultra-real setting for hardcore racers like me which is obviously just available in singleplayer and in closed online lobbies for league racing. Just my thoughts ;)

Only thing I'm hoping for is common engine failures for the AI and yourself. That would be the ultimate experience. F1 2015 was just lacking failures. I believe I've seen the AI have an engine failure once in about a day of gameplay time.

I know it happens for the Ai maybe not commonly though and I don't think it happens for the player unfortunately. Even if it did it would be super unconcistent due to players who would rage when this happened and ask for it to be out of the game. They could solve the hat with another damage setting going as far as regular engine blow outs.

I like your suggestions, stuff like starts determined by reaction time i've been wanting for years.
I would go with a hardcore damage model for those who want it, and a standard one for those who don't.

Curbs and astroturf need to be more of a hassle for sure, starting in the dry honestly (you drive over them like they aren't there), but specially in wet conconditions.

Yeah, I had a fully thought out system even for pad users when it came to manual starts: http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/41724/f1-2016-17-proposed-new-launch-control-system

I think they can revert to 2013's model for dry curbs. With TC off, it definitely did make a difference hitting curbs in slow corners. But astroturf could be treated a little differently as well. They really could do with a more treacherous wet model though. Though I think at this point in reality, they don't really start races when its super wet, they just have them run under SC or red flag it.

Thanks for the feedback!
