Well, screw this. Today I'll back up my progress, switch off auto-updates and uninstall and reinstall the game. Still no answer from anyone on whether I'll lose anything besides online capabilities...?
I play without the update, no problem at all except that, of course, I can not play online...

I read here and there that some thrust wheels are working again since a new update, is it true? Is there a fix that has not been announced yet?
I've tried to stop the update from downloading but realised it's impossible!!! The only way is to switch off from the internet, did you do that too? So now I have an offline PS4 because of this. Knowing this is how it works, it's really important that developers test their patches extensively before release! Huge fail, codies!!!

Me too, tried to disable autoupdate through ps4 system options but when I launch the game it starts to download the update! I have disabled the internet connection, but since I cannot play online without the patch... I enable it just to read messages etc.
Just delete the download when it starts.
Sure but it's really annoying, I prefer to stay offline waiting for the patch

Days rather than weeks = between 1 and 14 days? Maybe more? Basically, carry on and wait with a broken game, while we feed you just enough information to try and shut people up.
If they had spent this long testing the last patch we would have not had this issue. I for one think this has been handled dreadfully, and should never have happened.
When it did happen, they should have just rolled back to the previously working patch that was previously approved and keep players happy whilst the broken patch was re-written.
Its fixed, patches go through certification at sony, they did their job, took a bit longer but its done, yes this shouldnt happen at all but i've seen worse patches believe me, i think that we'll get it next week for sure.
I understand that, so the patch that was fine and working before this fail was certified and could have been rolled back as soon as the error was found, and we could have had a working game all this time, and then the new tested and correct patch a few days later.
It's not like there was anything major in the patch IMO other than making the game unplayable, as the game was pretty solid already!
I think, unfortunately for us, that they don't want this roll-back because they have communicate about this patch and a lot of players (pad-gamers) are not affected by this problem (and ignore it) and it would give a bad reputation to Codie.

There is probably a technical reason to that also, but we are the minority, unfortunately :(

But if we can't wait, it is the ultimate proof that Codemasters did a good job with this game. Let's hope they will continue to work in that direction while paying attention to their core fans = those who invest in a wheel to enjoy their game at best.

I know, but my gripe is that the patch didn't really give ANY players anything massive or fix any major problems, so rolling back wouldn't really upset anyone, especially as it would have only been for a short time while they fix it. Instead, we have been left without a game we can play, which is way worse.

Unfortunately I have the same problems with my T300RS wheel as many other members since the latest patch last Friday on ps4. Virtually no FFB, calibration screen greyed out. The game is virtually unplayable which is so disappointing as it was a great game pre-patch. Please please please codemasters sort a fix ASAP or if time is needed then could you give us a timescale. Trying to keep the faith.

That's not entirely true. I think it's fair to assume that the general Dirt Rally audience are those that use a standard controller, with wheel users being in the minority where hardware is concerned. If that is the case then, with the new tweaks applied to hill climb cars, every single one of those gamers are going to benefit greatly from the previous patch.

Hi all, really happy to be delivering some good news to you today. The fixes for Thrustmaster peripheral hardware have been approved, and we'll be pushing the patch out at 14:30 GMT.

I'm going to set up another discussion thread pertaining to this specific PS4 patch - so expect to see that very soon.

Great news. Let's hope it's all fixed and feels like it did before this whole mess. I for one can't wait to get back behind the wheel.

When will this patch be available on Xbox One?
The original update should be available now.
The problem we've been moaning about, regarding the thrustmaster wheels, only affects ps4 users.

Hi All,

Well thankfully all is working as before. Thank you Codemasters. Going to get back into the swing of things now, feeling a bit rusty  :)

Get back to it guys.

Thank you for the speedy resolution, my only let-off in this sad day of Brexit was a few runs in Pikes Peak... All working fine for me so far.

@ChristinaMc : can you please report to  the coders that Thrustmaster wheel's feedback can be good but isn't ? It's very weak, and we all know this wheel can be strong and very good (it is with other games, and it has been during the V1.02 workaround).  Like it is now the game is quite good to play on gravels, and that's all folks. On tarmac it is a real disaster, it feels terrible.
We now need to know if you are working on that or not. Really. To know if we can hope for a real fix one day or if we move playing to other games, forgetting this one. We are customers, you have to inform us better.

T150 force feedback is really good now in my opinion, even on tarmac. I had a blast on Pikes Peak yesterday, driving is so fun now.

The  FFB is great on the T300 as long as the wheel is set to 540.

Just wanted to give my experience for info...
Ps4 with t300rs t3pa and th8a patch 1.03 1080 rotation and thrustmaster facebook settings

I have what I think is nice feedback (but have not tried another wheel on xbox or pc so cant compare) on finland greece and wales but terrible on monaco and germany (very weak). So I have been reading all the posts waiting for there to be a patch to address this, which patch 1.03 has not fixed.

But wanted to ask you guys this specific point - I went to a custom event on rallycross lydden hillsince installing patch 1.03 and the feedback was really good, the best feeling I have experienced on this game, much better than normal rally stages...did anyone else notice this?

It's also great on the T500 if you MANUALLY SET THE WHEEL TO 540 and turn saturation up to 100

Bad FFB on tarmac is "normal" on PC as well. It's been like that through early access.

Can someone answer me this:
  • If I uninstall+reinstall, thus losing the day 1 patch, will I only lose online capabilities or were there any other improvements?
  • Is it enough to disable auto updates on the PS4? I see contradictory statements where it seems sometimes it still installs the latest patch with auto updates off (so disconnecting from the internet would be the only way)...?
Thanks!

I have my auto updates turned off and that last update patch still installed itself anyway? Man, was I shocked that it did so!!!!!!

Cheers,

they have communicated about the issue and aware of it. just remember they may of been straight on it but you cant just create a fix and send it out instantly. has to best tested and then released . to make sure it works.
Or just roll back to the old patch and kept everyone happy while they do a proper fix, as we have all suggested repeatedly. Pre patch everything worked fine and the issues were all minor. Post patch some minor issues have been supposedly fixed, and they have introduced a massive game breaking bug resulting in an unplayable game for a huge section of their customers. It's a no brainer.

If this ruins my place in the monthly online event I shall be seriously unhappy as I've ploughed well over an hours' driving into it already and now it's unplayable.
I finished up 4 outstanding weekly events and the last 6 of the monthly event after the update. After doing so, I thought I may have made a big mistake, as the results weren't so great due to the poor steering! Now, if this carry's on for any length of time, maybe it wasn't a bad idea after all?? I sure understand and feel everyone's frustrations, myself included!!

Although this isn't near the magnitude that was the disaster of a title launch from former Evo Studio's "Drive Club", it's invoking past memories of all the frustrations that took place! Took almost a year to get it sorted and where they had advertised as such. It'll be 2 years old already this October. I was an avid fan until Dirt came out, now I don't play it anymore, left the club I was in, done!!!! Can't get enough of Dirt Rally. Things will get sorted out eventually, I'm sure? This game coding stuff isn't like waving a magic wand and poof, all is well again! Maybe in a perfect world, but, we live in anything but a perfect world.

Chin up fellow players, this to shall pass!!!!

Cheers,

Can somebody who has installed the latest patch and is still not happy with their ffb please try this for me and see it improves?
Transfer the Dirt Rally save game file to USB drive and then DELETE the save game file from the PS4. Next start the game and set everything up as is if you have just started the game from new, DO NOT install the save game from the USB drive yet. Try driving a custom event and see if the ffb back feels any different with all the settings at max. If it does you can then exit the game and reload the save file from the USB and hopefully you should then get access to your previous progress and now excellent ffb?
It worked for me so may work for you, and you will be in NO doubt whether it worked or not if it does work
