Thrustmaster Wheel Workaround

Recommended Posts

Doesn't change gameplay for me at all. I drive at 378 degrees anyway (35%) so it's not much different. The real problem is the force feedback. The partial 'workaround' might be ok for some but pretty useless for me.

Have you tried turning everything off and switching the T300 to PS3 mode and then play the game like that? I've just tried my T500 (doesn't have ps4 mode) again after my ps4 has just done a system update and my ffb is amazing far better than it's ever been, not quite sure what's caused it as I also tried another workaround and I'm still trying to work out what's solved it?

From what I can gather there are 2 people working on the game at the moment. Dave wrote the original patch on his BBC Micro. Tony was taping the charts off the radio on Sunday and he accidentally taped over the cassette the patch was stored on unfortunately.

Dave has put a couple of hours of overtime in this week to get the new patch written up put he's had to start from scratch and he's not very good at typing so delays are expected. Please understand that they are working on it though and hope to have an update for us soon.

I've just connected my T300 up to my ps4 again and the ffb appears to be working as it should now. It's now better than it's ever been and I'm well happy, just need Codies to fix the DOR problem now and let us have access to all the ffb settings again - luckily I'd saved a profile with everything turned up to max

I've had the update, nothing has changed.
The steering is still wrong but the ffb has dramatically improved with everything set at max?

I've had the update, nothing has changed.
The first thing I did tonight before turning my ps4 on was connect my T500 to my laptop and run the thrustmaster control panel program, I changed the setting that tells the program to control the wheel self centering and not the game. I then reconnected to the ps4 and turned everything on, the ps4 then said a system update needed to be done which I let it do. Then I started dirt and manually locked the DOR using the wheel buttons to 360 degrees and proceeded to play the game and as if by magic my ffb was now acting as it should, there was resistance when turning and opposite force when the back end stepped out, I could feel all the bumps and the steering went light when accelerating and heavier when when slowing down, it also went light when spinning the wheels in a front wheel drive car.
Up until now I've had virtually no resistance when turning and the forces have only started to kick in when the back end starts to step out or going over bumps. I then connected to the laptop again and changed the setting back to let the game control the centering again, tried the game again and everything is still working as it should be.
Somebody on another forum has suggested that the thrustmaster control panel program only controls the settings when using the wheel on a PC and nothing is stored in the wheel, so I went back into the program and reduced all the feedback settings to zero to confirm that fact and tried it again on the ps4 - everything still worked ok so he's probably right?
So to conclude, something that I've done or Sony has done has made my ffb work much better than it ever has done

Ok I think Iv sorted it now !! I done the hold mode and right button etc etc till red light flashes twice !! Adjusted these settings !! Steering sensitivity 100 . Linearity 0 deadzone 0% saturation 45% . I played around with the saturation  . Seems better

My saturation is set at 100 and my steering is perfect?

I did the PS4 update, after that I did a rebuilt of the PS4 database.
My T300 is now great , but I have to put it on (I presume) 345° (2 blinks led). I use controller to make presets and it works really fine :-)

It's good to play again !

The game was so good before the patch. I have a t500rs on ps4. I did this temporary fix by reducing the degrees, but is way worse compare to prepatch.

The sad thing is now almost a week and still no fix :(

A touch passive aggressive for somebody representing a company wouldn't you say?

To call it a workaround would suggest that the controls were passable with those settings, which they aren't. I realise that you haven't been able to test them though given that no one in codemasters owns a PS4 apparently.
That workaround was to fix the problem with the steering not the ffb, I've just gone and got a G29 to see what supposedly correct ffb actually feels like because my t300 and t500 feel nothing like what they do when playing Pcars compared to dirt rally.

Update - The ffb on the G29 isn't much different to the T300/500
To be fair the FFB in Pcars isn't that good, its mostly just resistance with little information, will Dirt rally gives good info but a weak signal.

I think you missed something, PCars FFB is incredibly complex, complete and detailed, but you need to tweak it fine (it took me 6 months !).
