The Music of Dirt Rally

Recommended Posts

My experience with Dirt Rally has been so very good so far. I played Dirt 3 extensively and even bough the complete edition when it came out. One thing that really stood out to me with Dirt 3 was the inclusion of many different music styles and songs. Dirt Rally, while it certainly does not have bad music, is lacking. The menu tunes are good, but I would like to hear it expanded  upon a bit. and dear lord, the attract song is poor. It does not set me up for exciting rallying at all. Now, I daily drive an Evo X with my own choice of tunes and it gets me thinking. Is it possible to patch in more music at an update?> I am not certain i have ever seen a precedent for this in a game really, but Dirt 3 had such great music. If it's a matter of finding music, I'm a musician who has experience with game music and voice acting, I'd done music to the rally cause, s for sound effects, the engine sounds and all other sounds are spectacular. I just believe that  this game deserves more for its music during menus, attract and replays. Here's a link to the OST for a Castlevania homage project I am involved with https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=3&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwijruf1-s3NAhVG6oMKHT8CDP0QtwIILDAC&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DLGF39hdEXww&usg=AFQjCNFTjMmmm1yXilOaGxX9p9Q5jfG1Yw&sig2=0oPHGBUrnM6VKDji2LSWqQ.

Also, I do electronic rock, and here is some of that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxECH9rorUY. I belive Dirt Rally is such a great game and I would be happy to even write and record several songs for the game specifically. keep up the great work! I suppose I can always just turn on custom soundtracks.

*Mods, please move this to suggestion box for Dirt rally*

Engine sound is the only music for me when playing Dirt Rally, I need to listen to my co-driver, if I don't, I'll crash myself into the nearest wall or tree.

I think you missed the point. He meant music in menus and replays, not while driving. And in menu you don't have engine sounds or the co-driver to listen to, while in replays you have option to disable it.

Honestly people, if you want to use that argument, at least know when it applies.

Fair point. In which case, can we have the Group A Impreza and the Pikes Peak quattro as background music on the main menu please Codemasters?

Problem solved. ;)

Lol, Benny Hill's theme. Clearly a missed opportunity by all games. . I am referring specifically  to music in menus. It'd be weird to run music during the actual driving, but during replays and menus, it's nice to have great tunes. Dirt 3 had an excellent variety with some really good artists. I would like to see that come back and I am certain there are many other dirt players like myself who also can do OST work who would happily contribute. The sounds during the actual racing are perfect. I love how they even nailed the winter driving sounds, the wheel slipping on ice specifically. being from Minnesota I know the sound very well.

Boo! No! Engine noise, gearbox whine, and gravel noise only please.
