Offcourse. Drivers are in the cockpit. Not above their helments. Cockpit view is the most fun to drive.

Sometimes. The horizontal field of view with T-cam is closer to what you'd have sitting in the car in real life without having to turn your head, so I use that a lot of the time too as it seems like the most reasonable compromise for a single-display setup.

Cockpit view is certainly more satisfying, though, if you can get over the fact that you have a fraction of the peripheral vision you'd have if you were really sitting in the car.

I also use tcam and always did. But this is just because i dont own a wheel and to use cockpit view with controller feels weird for me.

This is not a simulator. If you're looking for realism, go play iRacing or similar.

The game doesn't have a cockpit view. It has a second lower tcam view. Its way to far back and its way to high up. Some cars you can actually read the logos on the nose for Christ sakes. Cars like the McLaren you can actually see the road beyond the out side of your front wheels while setting so high they had to make the mirrors super high up. Put in a option to allow me to adjust this to resemble driving a F1 car.

I recently acquired a T300 (great wheel) and have been using it on Ps4 ever since. I used to use the pad and I found it much easier to drive in T-cam. It gave me faster laps and fewer mistakes. When I got the wheel I couldn't get a feel for the tracks in this camera and so tested out cockpit cam again and my first lap was 1 second quicker than my previous best! It also helps as I seem to make fewer mistakes for some odd reason and overall it makes my car seem more undercontrol when playing with a wheel in cockpit cam compared to the pad

EDIT: I will add however, that it is annoying to not see the mirrors easily and have no joystick to look at them with on the single screen setup I have.

Look at the Cockpit view in F1 2016.
I think it continues like F1 2015 camera cockpit,
and needs to be adjusted to resemble the vision that proposes SkySports.

Comparing:

SkySports

F1 2016

F1 2016 (2)

Codemasters knows this, everyone in the sim racing community knows this, everyone that reports on the first game play every year at E3 knows this because its the first thing Lee gets asked about. Everyone one that has ever played the last 8 dam games knows that the game needs a option to adjust the cockpit views. Its maddening when other community made racing games put into their game 3 different ways I can adjust cockpit view in their game on the exact same console and codemasters wont give me a option for a couple of clicks of camera movement.

Totally agree, Codemasters developers simply see what they already know, should be even tired of my screenshots, it is why I'm stopping here on these posts filled images. The truth is that it can take 100 years, 100 different games, but one day the game will have to be highly simulated. So my posts may not be worth now, but in the future things will make sense. So for you, I wish Codemasters have a special look at the consoles.

Just seems silly that after waiting 2 decades to have consoles this powerfull, Certain game makers making the games for it doesn't seem to want to put in the options the console allows players to have now. Makes all the big hype made about how great this gen consoles are seem pointless.  What makes them great isn't being used by game designers making the games for them.

I'd like to use it more often, but, as kevinkirk likes to point out, it's not exactly close to real life.
If anything it feels like I (6'5") have to sit in a car fitted to someone like Massa. It feels simply awkward.

To me the cockpit view is the best option both for the immersion and lap times. Of course there are some tracks where the t-cam view is preferable but it's still playable on cockpit view. Good thing i'm a pc user and i am able to adjust it a little.

Not for anything, but if you really want to sample what driving an F1 car in sim means, you have to do it in COCKPIT VIEW - all other views are ARCADE !!!! To me driving a car in chase view is just completely asinine and ridiculous and I  really don't see why anyone using this postion would even consider him/her self a serious racer. Recall the chase view came before the cockpit view, which required more processing power  granted as technology improved. The chase view was a weaker model that featured more of a rudder style steering, completely opposite cockpit view where steering is more spot on.  In  F1 2016 and onwards, I really think all chase views should be banned altogether.

You have to consider this is a codemasters F1 game.We don't get to set these views up to get the fun out of it or make it more realistic. Instead most of us have to struggle to squeeze every little bit of fun out of the game that we possible can with the crap views we are givin. If that means someone has to drive in other views to reach that goal then its just something we have to do until we don't have to do that anymore by getting more option settings. For anyone to use the talking point of these pathetic  default cockpit views is a door to realism verses the other views in these games is comical. Unless your 8 foot tall with 5 foot long legs in real life, The default cockpit view is as arcade as any other driving view in the game.
