F1 2016 - New Features & Trailers! Formation lap, 22 player multiplayer, manual starts!

Recommended Posts

Have to admit this is starting to sound better and better all the time but I hope the formation lap is optional though as I personally prefer to just focus on the race. Perhaps in the difficulty settings and such so have an option at least so it can be skipped for those that would prefer to just focus on the racing aspect of the game.

I'm speaking more for those that like the way the game handles now  and prefer a little easier more arcade settings for their games because after what I went through with F1 2013 I wouldn't want that to happen again.  I'm not saying take any of these things out as they sound good and I know a lot of people like them and will want to race with them and that's fine I may well do the same yet. I'm just talking about having options within the game to disable them should either the systems not  work or we don't want to use them.

BTW this isn't a post hating on this so don't hit the disagree button on me for this I'm just asking whether it's possible to turn certain things off for those that might prefer the way things are.

@jennyannem ?

You can skip formation lap if you don't want it. You can also opt out of manual starts too if you wish :)

Thanks Jenny that's exactly what I wanted to hear. After what happened with F1 2013 hearing these sorts of things being added to the game made me nervous. I admit it's great for those that want a more sim experience but for those that prefer the way things are it's great to be able to turn it off.

Must admit that F1 2016 has some potential to be one hell of a game ;)

Im still concerned about the lack of any co-op news, which does'nt sound too good to me... but i reckon the effort have been used for other features, that's pretty clear with todays announcement....

Indeed it definitely sounds like CM are delivering a racer masterclass game

Really happy with the news but can we just have a little bit of information on the championship mode for 2016? Please! @jennyannem

well there's alway7s been a GP mode where you can play all the races as on season instead of going through career mode if that's what you want so I doubt there'll be any change there

I can't wait to hit a curb the wrong way breaking the wheel tether and having the wheel go flying across the front of the track in front of me.  New and improved physics is always welcome. All in all this is a nice feature reveal.

Hopefully all these new features don't introduce new bugs and online instability. But I'd say this is amazing

I'm sure the QA team is testing round the clock to ensure a smooth release to critical acclaim. I don't see why Codemasters can't produce a game that gets nothing but praise the first day the game is released to the tune of the Forza titles.

@Britpoint any news on the championship mode for this years game??

I think that may have been obviated to accommodate the career mode - not sure on this. Or perhaps the Pro Season mode has been removed to accommodate career mode.

Again, are we going to have the capability to take some screaming in-race photos of all this wonderful real estate that are F1 circuits? I would hate to see all this scintillating vistas stay dormant in this visually stunning game presented thus far.

Don't expect the formation lap to be fully manual. There HAS to be a degree of automatic control to ensure you make it round to the grid.

I would imagine it's like previous games under the SC where the game takes over if you don't keep up or try to go off.

One of the beta testers uploaded a video saying your car is manual until you approach the grid slots, the game takes over and lines you up in your right grid slot.

I'm assuming this feature hasn't changed since the beta test, as I could image many issues with allowing players full control right to your slot, especially online!

On the subject of the closed Beta, can we now lift the embargo and talk freely about what was experienced?

OMG!!!!!!! Codemasters you are surprising me every time a bit more with every bit of info i'm getting about F1 2016. I don't care for formation lap or manual starts, never asked for it, never wanted it but I have seen the huge demand on the forums for it for years so I'm very happy for all those wanting a formation lap and manual starts!

22 multiplayer is awesome! Also on the consoles?

Thank you Codemasters but you also screwed us over because now there is not much left to whine about  :p

Great news on the new features, I'm dead excited. Looks like I'll be doing a lot of practice races with the new manual starts and pit entries. I can see them being race killers, but I love it, what a new level of gaming Codemasters has went to. Roll on release day.

I would imagine it would be just like in the old games especially as we have career mod back now we can't show off our wonderful skills without knowing what the weathers going to do now can we. :p

Months ago? Thats weird. Codemasters never confirmed anything months before release. One or two maybe.

Agreed I don't think they've actually come out and outright said that. But because they've brought career and all that back I'd assume it is. Hopefully they will confirm it 100% though as it would be nice to go into a race weekend knowing what the weather will do or at least have an idea of what it'll do so we can plan the weekend ahead to get the most out of it.

Lozzy posted this a while ago.

@Lozzy, I guess I'll ask the question on everyone's mind, what exactly was the problem that you guys encountered prior to the Sony submission deadline?
To Answer this and knight2009 the problem was rendering (drawing things on screen) related so affected all game modes. I would go in to specifics but I don't really understand it myself!

ffigueir and PauloRic I know that's a really bad oversight but to change it in a patch was just not possible. I know it seems trivial but changing the monitor screens to accommodate this and fixing the weather system which presently doesn't create the weather for a session until you load in because to facilitate being able to change it on the loading screen was just too big a job. It will be back in 2016.

Jenny's response right here elevated my heart rate more than any announcement, for 2 reasons:

1. Configurable game options allowing each player to tailor their experience = win.

2. Fast & clear answer to customer inquiry - something I'm not accustomed to seeing from CodeMasters.
:)
