HALO 2 (Ferrari Test)

Recommended Posts

The windscreen would block a drivers vision even more than the halo during the race. You know how bad your windshield on your car gets dirty. Now imagine that windshield only a foot wide and a foot tall. That very small space you have to look out of is going to get blocked that much faster because you have such a small area to see out of to begin with. The driver wont be able to reach the pull off so your stuck with a dirty windscreen until you pit. Also, I dont imagine F1 would want the races won by being team that can clean the windscreen or spray rain x on it the fastest during pitstops.

For example it wouldn't have prevented Massa 2009 but the red bull design would and the halo blocks of the tcam so hell no to that...thing
Massas crash is just so much of a freak accident you cant really use that as a talking point. Besides,If it would have hit anywhere else besides perfectly on the edge of his visor the halo would have deflected it.  The things it would stop is things with enough size and mass to be fatal.
Halo is good,
but we know we have to improve, and in everything.
Not only in appearance, efficiency also, is not good that generates doubt about security.

IMO Halo is better than the windshield because it still leaves the small danger factor. Windshield will block all parts, even small, while Halo is mainly to deflect tyres/big, deadly parts.

God that halo is fking hideous even more on the red bull :S its not even blended into the body work its like someone just plonked it on there, im all for safety but this is rediculous its not even safe, it would have saved massa or bianchi from their respective accidents and youll still get hit over the head by debris and a tyre if it goes over the halo the aeroscreen was much better and i do believe it was rejected due to residue being able to obscure driver view? Ffs lemans prototype cars went from open cockpits to closed for safety they just use windscreen wipers and tear offs like people with common sense. Fia are stupid and have no idea how to run f1 anymore

Massas one almost was fatal... that "small" spring im pretty sure was around 1 kg and massa was doing over 150 (not sure of exact speed or weight) im sorry something like massas accident is far scarier that a tyre, you can see the bloody tyre coming at you and react enough to save urself, you cant see something small like a spring that will kill you or cause an accident enough to kill you

Does anyone know where exactly is positioned T-cam in the car?
I wanted to see an image with the marking of where the camera is.
The T cam is the black T shaped thing on top of the car right behind the driver. Hence the name :p

Not a doctor or engineer and I wasn't their. I'm just going from what I read about it. It was that bad because of were it hit, the corner of the visor. If the halo was there and  any other angle and it would have been deflected away.  Deflected away harmlessly into the air or deflected into the cockpit maiming the driver.
