HALO 2 (Ferrari Test)

Recommended Posts

Ferrari tested today, in this training Friday, the new HALO, and appearance has not changed much, but the protection is lighter, among other improvements.

See the car on the track is quite convincing for me, it remains beautiful:

But when it comes to camera onboard the result is quite unusual:

This will affect the game too.
What I want know is if you are satisfied with the HALO 2, mainly by the camera onboard.

Its fugly and will do little if anything to protect the driver's heads, this is the literal definition of doing something for the sake of doing something. Massa and Jules would have still had their accidents with this "protection" and the end result wouldn't have changed. Plus a tyre can still drop down on the driver. It is literally the worst option they could've gone with, including doing nothing.

I'm not voting either way because anything that improves the safety for the drivers is a good thing and I welcome. Although the danger is part of the sport, seeing a driver injured or potentially injured does not make good viewing.

On the other hand, it's a complete eyesore and although I welcome safety for the drivers, I fail to see how this will make much, if any difference at all. But then I'm not a qualified engineer so that's probably irrelevant.

I don't like it.
I think the Aeroscreen is much better in look and security.

In my opinion it is the better solution.
The driver is more protect with the Aeroscreen
and the visual for the driver is much better than Halo.

I prefer something like AeroScreen (transparent), but the design was not 100%,
It could be completely closed to the cockpit.

Something like this is perfect to me:

For example it wouldn't have prevented Massa 2009 but the red bull design would and the halo blocks of the tcam so hell no to that...thing

Tbh this is massive over kill i get safety of it but the whole point of f1 is to be dangerous these drivers get paid millions to risk their lives if it wasnt so dangerous it wouldnt be as good to watch this stupid shit will kill 2017 even with the cars being faster

if they will actually introduce it next year then expect some change of positioning for the on board cameras. They could actually stick one directly on the halo's frame, which could bring us an unique view of the cockpit (possibly closer than how currently is)

They should move the cam to the front of the halo. up top.
I also thought about it :), but even so, did not take very seriously, because stay with that feeling of what will always be a part of the car that is ugly... :/

You have to look good a place if you need to change the camera,  ;)
because of their own security. Must be why we have no cameras in the driver's helmet.  :|

Does anyone know where exactly is positioned T-cam in the car?
I wanted to see an image with the marking of where the camera is.

Sure, and there is a space above the helmet that may well pass a piece of car, and beat at high speed. Not only a tire can injure the driver.

Massas crash is just so much of a freak accident you cant really use that as a talking point. Besides,If it would have hit anywhere else besides perfectly on the edge of his visor the halo would have deflected it.  The things it would stop is things with enough size and mass to be fatal.
