VR Update ... Now Released - Yay !

Recommended Posts

Had some strange feeling before a change this "•VR – Vehicle Camera Motion" to ON.
Wish this was a slider. Off can look odd when your car clips a bank and is at an angle but you are not. On can be a bit of a boneshaker. In reality our eyes do a great job at smoothing out the bumps, I would like a setting somewhere in between off and on.

Your post has actually nothing to do with the VR thread since oculus is locked at 90 fps

I'd like to angrily thank everyone here and at Steam for ruining my day. Here I was, about to start the game and have a good time after wondering why my internet was so slow. Well, I found the problem. A 10.2 GB patch for something I'm literally NEVER ever going to use. Perfect. I hate everything.

I'm yet to experience the new update (though without the VR hype) but I've witnessed rage and anger directed at Codemasters on Steam. Another sponsorship deal, I guess?

A lot of people on the Steam forums are freaking out about the 10GB update, but don't seem to understand that it's REPLACING 10GB, not adding it.

But they also don't like the exclusivity of Oculus Rift. You can't please everyone, can you?

Don't care what it's doing, it's unnecessary and I don't like it. Taking up 10 gb for a download to give me exactly the same product I already had is dumb. I'm just speaking for bandwidth usage, not hard drive space. Unlike you European types, our internet costs twice as much and it's twice as slow, cuz we invented it!

My game is also now crashing where it didn't before. Yippee. This is why I hate automatic forced updates.

SO much this! I added a thread on reddit asking if anyone knew how to add that manually, but it seems it's a setting in all the car files :(

In the Real Head Motion app for Assetto Corsa there are sliders to set all that just as we see fit, but just a slider between these two would solve it all!

With it locked to the car, it's like someone bolted your skull to the rollcage as it's completely solid around you; while the horizon lock looks more intense and vivid but also completely still horizon.

A 50/50 option would also do! Please Codies! <3

Had a quick blast on his and the wheel rotation breaks immersion for me. You have to set DOR to about 540 to get any decent feel out of the car and then your VR driver doesn't match up with your real arms

Set your physical wheel to 900, turn on soft lock in dirt settings and turn off the driver arms. Now you get both correct ratio for all cars and also a correctly rotating in game wheel. You won't notice the missing arms as much as the incorrectly rotating wheel. :)

Sorry for those who are yet to discover the incredible immersiveness of Sim Racing in VR, but this was the BEST 10.2 Gig I ever spent !  :p

I'm happy for those with VR Equipment.

Unfortunately, some of us DO NOT have VR.
Can we opt out on this 10Gb update.  I need that 10Gb for other games.

Seriously!  This is the game I bought the rift for and I am not disappointed!  Everything else in VR has been kinda meh after you get over the wow factor of VR but this is just awesome.  There's clearly room for improvements but even just watching my replay while chilling in the back seat having a beer and a smoke still puts a smile on my face.

When I first tried it out I was a lot slower just due to the fear of seeing all the bumps, dips and cliffs but getting more used to it now and times are improving.

Now I can finally invite the friends over and show them something seriously impressive!

Thanks Codemasters! Heres hoping it only gets better from here!

That 10GB isn't additional, it replaces your existing files man.

Hey guys, looking at pirchasing a dk2 (not cv1) foe dirt rally. Will it still work? Is it worth it?

Cheers
From what I've read the DK2 is still supported.

Ok thabks...So, should it run basically the same as the cv1 besides resolution? I mean.. is the 1.3 update the same for both or is the dk2 still run like the 0.8 'hack' update? (I havent tried it before, just read a few things but tbh in confused about it all!)

Would the dk2 have menus and everything, atw, etc?

Im just cautious about spending $450AU and its a big let down and/ or i cant play dirt rally in future updates.

I haven't tried it myself, I only own the CV1. Maybe @CMMcBabe or someone else who owns the DK2 can clarify this

DK2 has everything the same, but is a lower resolution.  We were using the latest Oculus software with the DK2.

The only difference is that there is no headset removal messages, but we are sure you would notice if you removed your headset.

@awestricity - My dk2 cost Aussie $550 brand new back in July 2014 so I would be checking that dk2 is in very good nick and offer a price relative to its age and condition. Remember you have no warranty.
