R&D Investment Dynamics

Recommended Posts

Was thinking about this as I saw the 10 seasons poll just now. I wonder if the R&D that is "invested" by a player into a team stays there, or if a team change causes the the previous team to drop to default performance. Say I spend 6 season developing McLaren-Honda into the team to beat. If I then switch to Mercedes, will McLaren fall back to like 6th or 7th the following year (current performance), or will I be battling them for the following seasons? Even more extreme would be if like Manor was made the front-running team after like 8 years of player R&D. Would they be front runners the following year? Or will the drop back as backmarkers once the player leaves the team? I'm hoping the player's "investment" stays in the team so that it's very dynamic.

How do you guys think it'll work?

Yes because once a team reaches a certain position in R&D they'll stay the same and keep on upgrading.

if it's programmed right then hopefully it'll be like F1 2010-12 in tha the team keep their performance as performances and changes will continue throughout the 10 years in a dynamic way depending on the results of the previous season. I don't know if you've played any of the earlier games 2010-12 but the upgrades stayed with the team after you earn them even after you leave. Whether they stay in that position after you move on depends on how the remaining seasons play out though. But this is on the earlier games unfortunately this got taken out of F1 2013/14.Don't ask me why as I have no idea because that for me is one of the main reasons why I tend to play those earlier games more than 2013-14 so personally I'd have kept it in.

Was thinking the same tbh :) Id also like to know if we can end R@D early to focus on next years car. Its a feature that was in all the previous games (as long as you were no1) and it could give a team like manor a huge advantage going into the second season if available. I'm hoping the career is as good as it sounds because everything ive seen so far makes me think early nights will be a thing of the past when the game is released :) Too soon to say it might be the best F1 game ever?

Ye I know just does sound really good this year as I only ever play single player on games :) I think as long as its not released with loads of bugs then we will truly get a great F1 game this year. No other F1 release has had me this exited yet anyway.

Indeed I've not been this excited for one of CM's games since the 2010 game I was pretty excited for Grid Autosport when that came out but not nearly as much as I have been in terms of the F1 series.
