Operator1 4 Posted July 27, 2016 Looks like CodeMasters is handing most of their F1 marketing over to YouTubers. I'm a little surprised that's kosher by FOM, considering how often "FOM restrictions" have been cited as reasons (excuses) for so many other limitations/exclusions. That was the whole point of the testing opportunity in Feb/March, for CM to identify the youtube 8 :)Judging by some of the videos, some of their driving is horrific. Would be awesome (and really annoying at the same time ) that you could get a completely random failure sometimes.E: And hopefully that "once you've significantly worn out your engine" doesn't mean like in F1 2015 when you have to go in first gear for several laps to get a failure (as far as I am understood it correctly. I didn't even know you could get an engine failure and heard about it just a few weeks ago. )

Would be awesome (and really annoying at the same time ) that you could get a completely random failure sometimes. That's why :)It's important to remember that nothing in Formula One is really random. If an engine fails it's because there was a problem in the manufacturing process, a mistake by a mechanic of a driver, or any number of other things that someone somewhere has some control over, which isn't necessarily true in game. I have no issue with the idea of failures, but not when it's purely reliant on a dice roll.

I have no issue with the idea of failures, but not when it's purely reliant on a dice roll. For the future, is it possible to consider ON/OFF-option on this? I would love to have them in the game. Current system isn't fair because the AI drivers probably aren't abusing their engines? And for me, it is mostly random for the driver (IRL and in games). Yes, there has been a problem somewhere but more often it has something to do with the manufacturing process rather than how is the driver treating the engine. And in the game, I'm just the driver. It would be a different story if I would also be making the engine. ;)

Runalf 0 Posted July 28, 2016 Britpoint, did you guys miss this discussion??? : http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/42123/mechanical-failures-over-race-weekend/p1I just can't believe it lol. Vettel had an engine problem in a warm-up lap. it IS a fucking dice roll. wtf.
TheCroc84 124 Posted July 28, 2016 Im not surprised they've not added mechanical failures its an easy out if they left them in a section of fans would moan that they could possibly lose. It would be a frustrating thing to happen but its realistic it happens in motorsport and its crap they couldn't even offer a simple on/off option so you as the player have the choice in how realistic you want things to be regarding car failure. MurraysMic 3 Posted July 28, 2016 I agree with @Runalf the unpredictability is why we watch F1, Admittedly technology has moved on from the 90's where the Merc power plant would grenade itself more often than not, but failures and gremlins still happen in the sport and I think there should be a simulation setting for failures/gremlins for those who want to experience the frustration HOWEVER, the AI MUST follow the same ruleset as the player so they experience the same issues. However the player should not be punished for the failure in terms of lost xp for not (If it is the case reaching the team goal during the race)Why not have all players have the possibility of issues and let the player have the risk/reward of something possibly failing last lap and you have a 15 second lead coming into the last sector can you nurse the car home to the finish or can you finish on the points, it adds an additional element of excitement/heartbreak. As Runalf said there was an overwhelming (96%) view that this should be in game.Again older Sony games implemented this and with the option for on/off. Finn 0 Posted July 28, 2016 I guess you could then roll a dice and retire the car on a certain result.
