Wheel Display/Dashboard information too vague?

Recommended Posts

I'm curious to know whether or not we will be able to have more information on the wheel rather than just lap times, position and gear.

Are You kidding me? Display of real F1 cars is much more than codemasters i.e. Codemasters give no info about ERS, or engine rpm...

Exactly. Also, an option to manually use ERS would be nice, instead of it being automatically deployed.

lmao on an f1 car that screen has something like 20-30 different sub menus we have 1 menu with pointless info on it -_- the safety car delta better be on it this year or you wont be able to turn HUD off at all >.<

Unfortunately looks like they will leave the dashboard as it is, I've asked for it many many times and never had a single answer from the devs. Unless they update it with a patch, we'll have to live with this vague information. I'd like to understand why they don't put the same information from the HUD in the display, shouldn't be that hard as the data is already there, at least an info button to change screens.
Something like this ONCE AGAIN:

That's what we want exactly. Maybe with fuel mixture and brake bias? That would be nice

This is quite annoying. There should be a few screens we can cycle through on the wheel, pCars has some nice Motec wheels, or the Indycar wheel and you can cycle through...

Screen 1: Gear, speed, revs
Screen 2: Lap and sector delta's
Screen 3: Tyre, water and brake temps

Would be a big help when wanting to run Cockpit view without any of the games HUD.

I'm pretty sure irl they only have 1 screen.

Did Hamilton not have a bunch of screens to switch through at Baku when he was in wrong mode?

He did. On the Mercedes wheel the +1 and +10 buttons are used to cycle through the screens available

That'snot what they're used for. I don't what they're used for ut they were n the wheels before 2014 and remained after.

they were used for the same thing but the info was shown were the gear and rpm were shown in the older wheel. Still just pages of numbers and letters wether its was on the old wheel or the new one.

that's really annoying if we can't have more infos on the screen. I wan't to drive in cockpit view, because I want to feel like an F1 Driver. So I don't want to use a superimposed HUD like if I have some kind of sci-fi-lens in my eye. Or to put it straight forward: I don't want any game HUD cluttering my view onto the scenery in front of me (cockpit, track, sky, etc.). So I need more information on the steering wheel. Why can't codemasters not understand the importance of this?

Any chance that someone can mod this in? Putting info from the artificial game HUD onto the LCD on the steering wheel?

I get put off using the cockpit camera because of this. It is really annoying, we actually need information on the wheels, how can we determine the amount of fuel left, lap time delta, etc., when we have little shown on the wheel.

Whats the safety car delta anyway... Was it shown anywhere?
Its shown in multiple videos, go into the another post on the forum called New GAMEPLAY.
basically SC delta is just a time you cannot go faster than, it's what the Virtual safety car works on and while youre catching up to the actual safety car you have a delta that you cannot go faster than just as they do in real life.

I mean is the delta time shown on the screen? Or u just have to estimate ur speed making sure no warning signs show up?

Yes it is, but I think it is only shown on the HUD (top right corner) and not on the steering wheel which is annoying.

I wish there was more information displayed on the wheel. I love racing in cockpit with no HUD! I prefer the realism and immersion. As such, sounds like augmented reality in cockpit view is required in certain gameplay situations. Oh well. Maybe 2017!

Some examples from the steering wheel of the McLaren MP4-30 in iRacing.

1. Change to setting dial 1 (Fuel Mix) - 0 (Max / Rich). Single DRS light indicating I can use DRS in the next zone.

2. All the info you need on one page! RPM readout, delta time (set to personal best lap), last lap time, brake bias setting, ERS deployment setting (here it is set to Fixed 7), and ERS charge remaining. Two DRS lights indicates I am in a DRS zone but not activated.

3. Four green DRS lights indicates the DRS is activated. Brake bias adjusted for next corner.

I'm asking for this since a long time ago but never got an answer. Can anyone from Codemasters please comment why the steering wheel LCD doesn't show the same info as the HUD? Is there a possibility to have it  in a patch for F12016?
