New to F1 2013, First race problem

Recommended Posts

Hello there,
I am new to this game, so when I started my career for my first race, I qualified for pole position. When i started the race I looked at my option tyres and they were really worn, I could only do 1 more lap with them until I started spinnig out in almost every corner. I know these are the Options I used for the last qualifying session, which I did about 5 laps with. Should I have changed to a different set and scrubbed those Options so that I could have a better start to my race? I didn't continue the race because I didn't feel like ending up 22nd from 1st place. Should I restart my career, It would be good idea since it was only the first race. But I don't want to do the Young Drivers Test again, If I restart will i have to redo the YDT?

If anyone has an answer to this, please let me know,
Thanks

IF   its a simple re start career  then you do not need to redo YDT   BUT  and its a big  BUT  if you  delete  your game save file then you will need to redo your  YDT   ...

I would just do the race.  Its a learning experience and it'll be fun blazing past all the backmarkers.  You won't finish last if you were fast enough to qualify pole.  Even if you start from the back.  You could switch your tires and take the penalty.  Vettel and Hamilton both started from the back last year and finished near top five.  Just consider it a challenge and next race doon't do more than 1 lap in the shootout qualy so you save your tires.

Its just part of F1 strategy.  F1 is not all just driving, if you screw up your strategy (ie ruin your tires in qualy) then you hurt yourself in the race.

What about when racing 25% races with only 1 qualifying round?  Do I start the race on those tires?  So if I set a hot Q lap in the first few laps, I should stop so I don't wear my tires more?
