Try turning off 1 assist at a time then learning how to drive like that. I did that 5 years ago and haven't used assists since. Try driving in time trial too instead of throwing yourself in a race as that usually pressures you more than being alone.

Trial brake is 1. Also make sure you use setups aswell as feed the throttle in slowly. Be smooth on steering inputs to slow corners. For manual gears  you need to make sure you don't over-rev as this overheats your engine and than you basically go shit slow in a straight line. And then I found just practice is needed. I used professional and amateur ai when I first started playing F1. Now I use Legend and go 1-2 seconds a lap quicker (atleast in qauli) in a Red Bull.

Yes i have been doing a mix of tt and quick race i feel confident driving in tt with no assists but in quick race i seem to be 2-3 seconds off the pace and light the rears like crazy

I've been driving for like 4 years with traction control and racing line in corner.
Since i got my wheel 2 weeks ago, i turned all the assists of.

Had to go from legend to hard difficulty. Been practising it for a week or 2 now and getting some decent results already. So i might turn the difficulty level up.

TL;DR: It's actually pretty normal i guess to have some problems at the start. Just practice a lot and in a couple of weeks/months you'll be back at your old skill level.

Your holding your own with assists cause you can push harder without risk of lock ups you need to perfect setups for each track then get the right line top 5 tips are

1. Slow in fast out of corners
2. Remember if you lock up get off the brake
3. If you cant afford to push dont
4. Take off one assist at a time
5. Lower difficulty and go back up till your qualyfying 2 secs ahead

It seems that you have to acclimatise on the track as well. If I try australia which I have been doing today, I easily keep up with the AI, then if I try Spa-Franchorchamps I'm like half to a full second behind. It's really just a mixture of things but mostly practise.

Start downshifting before you brake hard once your off the apex and straightened up abit full throttle again

Also try a different setup one not so harsh on tyres you can use other peoples i find best way is full practice and run a minimum 8 differentials a session with about 15-30 minor tweaks starting highest downforce to optimum amount highest even in italy practice one ... after doing the practice if i dont have a setup perfected its my own problem then but do short runs and long runs test tyre life with it too

At least with 2016 you can see with gates where your gone off line with tyres it shows how bad wear is then qually well thats how fast you can push so best of luck in preparation

I feel im pushing my limits and im still near a second off my assists personal best in tt.
Keep practicing it takes some time to really get used to it and you will see your time slowly improving.

Slap the brake balance towards the fronts to help with rear lock ups.

in F1 2015 using TC assist on was faster than no assists unfortunately.  But take a look at this guy TRL Limitless video.  If has a couple videos on how to turn off all the assists and get faster.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUGg5omPB_4

He did mention while playing 2016 that it should be back to no assists being faster... I really hope so!!!

Shouldn't be should be quicker or why would people play with no assists
People play with no assists to increase realism. Doesn't have to be faster for people to prefer it.

Also, from a realism standpoint TCS should be faster.

But from a gameplay and balancing perspective assists should be slower.

From a tradeoff system: Assists = Easier to use, can't drive the car at full pace

No Assists = Harder to use, can drive the car at full pace

This balances the skill gap and is how it's been for awhile with the exceptions of the recent few F1 games.

If that isn't in the game then it ruins it from a competitive standpoint which I can see they're going for this year.

Guess what in real life assists are not allowed, so I agree with the response here is that if you play it realistically without them they should be faster.  It actually incentivizes you to turn them off one at a time as you get better.  That was a very satisfying feeling when you get to no assists.

On the other side when you see guys on f1 2015 with full TC destroying you in the traction zone and never making a mistake because of it, than can be very frustrating.  Especially on the harder less grippy tire compounds.

Judging by this things haven't changed for 2016. I personally thing this is UNNACEPTABLE  it should tka eskill to be fast. I've been playing f1 games since 2011/12, and I could have someone who started playing f1 a few days ago go FASTER THAN ME. LIKE WTF

Actually when you master racing with no assists you will be faster than someone using assists, especially if the racer is using the automatic transmission option. My take is you should not be using any assists whatsoever when racing an F1 car, even virtually !
