Beta questions

Recommended Posts

Hi,
1) PC: did someone try to go to desktop and back to game ? If yes, does the resolution go back to the normal value ? Because in f1 2015 it didn't,, which was very annoying, although not game breaking
2) How is corner cutting, speaking about the handling ? Is it punishing enough so you will cut less than f1 2015 (regardless penalties)

Thanks for your efforts !

I have a few questions.

1) Are curbs more dangerous to drive over, do they unsettle the car more therefore slowing you down ?

2) Regarding the cockpit view adjuster, how much does it allow you to zoom out etc. Can you zoom it out enough to see the full of the wing mirrors ?

3) Do AI move out of the way when on a outlap/in lap  ?

4) Can you shred your tires by driving like a lunatic. I know this  was on 2015, but has it improved.

5) Did you guys get to fully test setups ? Is low downforce still the stock setup ?

6) Haha, how much better is it compared to 2015 ?

I can't think of anything else.

If you keep your foot in on kerbs, Astro or the grass you're heading off. You need to lift or at least feather the throttle.

1) In the beta yes, the resolution went back to normal.

2) The corner cutting / extending is much more strict this year, so you get more easily penalized. If you keep on cutting them after warnings and smaller penalties, you will start to receive bigger ones. This depends also what penalty setting you have chosen.

I have a few questions.

1) Are curbs more dangerous to drive over, do they unsettle the car more therefore slowing you down ?

2) I don't think you lot did, but did you get to check AI out online. Do they still drive different to career mode.

3) Do AI move out of the way when on a outlap/in lap  ?

4) Can you shred your tires by driving like a lunatic. I know this  was on 2015, but has it improved.

6) Haha, how much better is it compared to 2015 ?

I can't think of anything else.
1. They are especially in light rain or wet conditions
2.we didn't get to test that
3. I didn't do too much qualifying but from what I gathered yes but not on the in lap for some reason as they still push really hard like its a qualifying lap.
4.The tyre wear is much more dramatic and realistic on F1 2016 and by driving like a lunatic, yes your tyres will get destroyed and if you go too far into the race on the same set with that attitude you'll most likely get a puncture.
5.we did however I'm not sure what you mean by "stock" setup
6. F1 2016 is a must buy for all F1 fans and it's much better than F1 2015 it's basically got everything that we moaned 2015 didn't have and More!

1) Yes, the curbs are much more dangerous, they slow you a bit and you have to be cautious (can't drive with full throttle easily) otherwise you will loose control and spin.

2) I tried this a little, but you can adjust the cockpit view with a big margin but I didn't try the max zoom.

3) Yes they do.

4) If you wont be cautious with the accelerator and drive like mad, it will affect the tire wear a lot, so it has been improved. It's also hard to control your car with used tires.

5) This is a massive step from F1 2015 and so far, with the limited access we had, it felt already so much better!

I use a pad also, but reading from other people that use a wheel, they say that the FFB is a very big improvement. You can feel the curbs, you feel when you are about to loose the car and when driving off road. Overall the FFB is very good and strong.

I think the bes Part is that the three compound rule was executed really well, the AI are all on different strategies and finally the harder tyres feeling good, so it is worth to play around with the strategies

Also the FFB feels quite good, especially though slow corners is it much better now.

How are the weather transitions?  Before it would be raining for awhile before you came in, and then it seemed you could switch back onto slicks when it was still drizzling.

I had a wet to dry race and pitted when I thought it was dry enough, what I was used to in last years game. Big mistake. Spun coming on of the pits and lost all temperature and grip. Didn't last the lap. You can't drive on slicks until it really is slick time.

I would say it's better now and you can really feel when it's time for the slicks or inters. Just one glitch with the rain drops on the car but I'm sure that will get fixed by release date.

In f1 2015 on a dry track most of the time a 1-1, aero would be the fastest way to get you around in the quickest time. That's what I was referring to when saying a stock setup, as it's been like that for the last few games I believe.

Thanks for answering my questions guys.

Also in normal rules you get a warning for exceeding pit lane speed, so you can practice. In the race you get a penalty. There's drive through and stop go penalties in the race now.

I also think there's not just 1 perfect tyre or lap to stop for the conditions anymore, I've had some races where full wets and inters were both drivable, AI were making different choices and running similar pace on inters/wets during a weather transition for multiple laps, which was pretty good to see! :)

Then in that case no I found running about 4-4 to 6-6 downforce would give you a better car as you get less wheel spin and the kerbs being reworked so if you do use too much of one it's not the end of your race but people like cars set up differently so yea.

Also ride height seems to work now. If you set it low you can hear the car bottoming and losing speed (although the sound was only just audible). You also get a shower of sparks. I used that reference to set my ride height correctly.

Manual starts are fun and pit entry now needs concentration. I soon picked up trees and fences to use as brake points on pit entry.

For beta-testers, what question have you done or that feedback will have asked the codemasters?
We have filled in questionnaires after all 3 betas. Plus we've been given various tasks through the forum to practice on.

Weve had damage, tyre wear, weather and set up tests for example.

Speaking of damage. You said something about it earlier. So if you choose simulation damage doest that mean AI has it as well? And have you experienced any AI crashing with each other so they broke a wheel and such? Thats what i wanted for a long time. Simulation damage that is sensitive as in real life and that actually happens with AI without human being involved.
