Beta questions

Recommended Posts

Final beta has closed and we have been told we can talk about it but not post screenshots or videos so thought I'd create a thread for people to ask questions and any of us who had the beta to answer.

Are there some guys who played it with a wheel who can tell something about the feeling of the driving/ffb?did it improved from 2015

Anything new with championship season?

..
It was quick race mode, although the option is there to build your own championship in that mode. We have 4 tracks but could play a full weekend so I kinda had a few 4 race mini championships.

Good chance to have a look at tyre strategy and allocation and how that works over a weekend. It's all nicely done.

Force feedback on PS4 with a T300 is definitely improved this year. The feel in wet weather is really good(wet weather in general is great) and in the dry aswell it's a lot stronger. It's much better than F1 2015, whether it'll be to the liking of everybody i don't know but i think it's pretty good this year.

Definitely a big improvement! FFB feels a lot stronger now, you can really feel the weight shift of the car through corners, and saving the little snaps of oversteer feels really awesome this time, especially driving in the rain.

Championship mode has been confirmed just wondered if you'd played it

Every car has unique handling

They were really realistic. As @F1randokalbus22 said, every car has a unique handling. For example Manor is very fast in the straight, but lacks downforce, so it is not too good in the corners. So a weaker team could be pretty good in certain tracks and so on! You definitely can tell differences with each team.

Simulation damage was great. I played with that on all the time and had a few races end with slow speed hits on the wall. Very realistic. Definately makes you think twice about making a move knowing the consequences. More AI failures, around 2 per race and with AI seeming to use the same damage setting as the player I often lost a couple more cars to accidents. It was common to see around 3 or 4 AI DNF in 50% races. They make more mistakes although a lot of us had concerns about their behaviour around human players, they still tend to clip your rear and spin you off or simply run into the back of you on a straight. Hopefully that's being fixed.

Engine damage is possible but you need temperatures to go above 100 deg which in normal conditions doesn't happen so you do need to rev it to cause a blown engine. However a rear puncture causes you to go very slowly, like crawling pace, and that caused my temps to sky rocket and cause a failure.

But if you can't there's a new adjust setting which should be coming to the full game where you can change angle and how much you see.
That sounds great. Thanks

We had a cockpit camera adjustment which worked well. New OSD menu is great. Press O on ps4 and you can cycle through pages. L1 for engineer and he now has 3 or 4 pages to cycle through. Engineer can now suggest alternative strategies during a race if strange things happen. You get around 20 seconds to stick or twist. Liked that. 3 tyre compounds make races fun and open up your options. Race weekend allocation is a nice feature giving you 3 choices.

Weather and session times are locked in career but in quick race you can set session times to any time of the day and set weather for each session, within each session you can have up to 4 slots for changes so you can set scenarios in quick race. Maybe a dry start, downpour, and a dry finish. Worked well when I tried it.

Wet racing is FUN. It's harder and you go slower but the AI have been adjusted to your pace.

I played on legend. Seemed similar to last year. I tried expert which was too easy for me and the AI were more cautious. Ultimate is mental and for the top players will offer a good challenge. They go for all the gaps! They seemed quicker in qualifying than the race.

The features that have been added are great we didn't get to test saftey car or parade lap but the time and condition editors were great. It's much more realistic as well now even with lower assists. The manual starts are fantastic as well because instead of always getting a decent start some times you can get an amazing start some times not and the Ais starts are more random than F1 2015.

Yeah I liked starts. You never got the same start twice. Had to dodge a slow starting AI car a few times.

Looks very promising! Are there more cutscenes added before start and after the race has finished? In video's i ve seen on Youtube, you always get exactly the same reaction from Toto Wolff and Mercedes team after they win again, for example.

Unfortunately that was one of the flaws of  what we tested I may be wrong as they might change it for the full game but it was always the same reaction and after a day of hard playing the comintators reactions were predictable as well and I only heard about 3 different phrases for different moments in the cut scenes. Many people said this to Codemasters so hopefully in the full game it will be better
