[F1 2013] Dynamic weather strategy

Recommended Posts

Hello guys !
I know that everyone is busy with F1 2016 but I really need your help/suggestion about a strategy.
I'm currently playing a career (25%) and during a race where the weather was dynamic, it started to rain heavily in the middle of race so the engineers told me that I should put Intermediate tyres.. (after pitting to switch from Option to Hard) The AI did the same .. Everything was OK until the last two laps when I lost completely the grip and my tyres started to lock easily due to the big amount of rain then I received instructions to switch to the WET tyres just in the last lap while the most of the AI continued running the intermediate without any problem. So they pitted only twice while I was obligey to pit 3 times (hard-Intermediate-wet) and losing places of course ..Everything is great about the game except that point.. Did anyone faced that before and how did you react to this ? And can I switch to Wet directly without passing by the Intermediate to gain that pitstop ?

The engineer is there to offer suggestions but it's up to the player to decide whether or not to do it but personally in my races if it's the last lap or 2 of a race I tend to hang on to whatever tyres I'm using. Sometimes it works out sometimes it doesn't but it's up to how the player is feeling I think and whether they feel it's worth the gamble. The engineer is only there to advise you on your options sometimes he may be right sometimes he won't but it's entirely up to you as to whether you want to follow that advice or not

Maybe because of the 25% race which is not enough for all the AI to change to WET like they plan to pit at 25℅ +1 lap ! Well thanks for your comment anyway !

As Brundle says the fastest strategy is always on the right tyre at the right time
Yes just the point of swiching tyres at the last lap while 75% of the AI stay with Intermediate ! Do you think it's because of the 25℅ race ? And is switching directly to WET risky (while it just start to rain) ?

No. I think it's down to the time lost in a pit stop against time lost in 1 lap being on wrong tyre. I would say for 1 lap I would risk staying in inters. I think you can gently do a lap without losing 20 odd seconds a pit stop costs you

Some people say you can jump straight to wets but remember the way weather works in f12013 isn't realistic. It will always for heavy rain situations go dry - light rain- heavy rain - light rain - dry. It wont try catch you out.

Well thanks for your comment ! I have to calculate the time lost in Intermediate tyre and if it's less than 18~20 seconds I will stay in the future even if the car handling become completely lost !
