F1 2016 - Multiplayer

Nice to finally have some more info on this. I'm still on the fence regarding this title however and will wait until it launches before deciding if it's a game I should start playing. 

I have some questions about F1 2015's Multiplayer that hopefully somebody can answer, forgive my ignorance as I haven't actively played since F1 2011:

1> How "clean" were the public lobbies in F1 2015? Were there many Lap 1 incidents, or notable issues with deliberate crashers?

2> What tools were in place to help ensure races ran cleanly? What public lobbies had penalties enabled for example?

3> How easy was it to kick a player from a public lobby?

4> Did the public lobbies reward clean/fast racers in any way? In Forza Motorsport 6 the grid for each race is based on the fastest laps from the previous ones, so that clean racers tend to start from the front. 

5> How quickly would cars ghost if they collided or spun? Were there many cases of "gridlock" due to a large unavoidable crash on Lap 1?

6> Did Codemasters have a Race Marshal program (like what Forza Motorpsort 6 recently introduced) or a way to report consistent crashers? Did many players get banned for their unsportsmanlike behaviour?

7> How was the voice chat in-game? Could everybody hear everybody or would some drivers be muted due to bad connections?

8> How much did lag have an effect on the racing? Forza Motorsport 6 runs on dedicated servers and in the 700 hours I played I saw almost zero signs of lag (floating cars, sudden crashes etc.).

9> Was there a "ranked" or competitive area to race in, or was that handled by community leagues?

10> Did the game save Replays of Multiplayer races that I could then watch later?


As mentioned in previous posts, I almost exclusively play Multiplayer in racing games, only doing Single Player for Achievements (I don't enjoy racing against AI).

Unfortunately, I quit playing Forza Motorsport 6 due to the hostile nature of public racing, and I don't want to go into F1 2016 expecting something I will likely not get. 

Personally, I don't like to race in private sessions, and I already spent years doing league racing when I was younger and don't want to return to that either. What I would like the most is to hop on at any time and join a public race where I don't get shoved off the track by people that have forgotten what the left trigger does. 

Is F1 2016 going to provide me with that experience? I hope so. 



(Note: I'm an Xbox player, incase that helps narrow down anything.)

PS: The Single Player content and base mechanics of the game look great from the previews I have seen. Can't fault Codemasters on that even if it's not something I'm personally interested in.

Well that's made the decision to buy or not easy it's pathetic that codemasters can't get a lobby browser into the game we all know it can be done! This is last year all over again "oh it's hard so we are not gonna bother" can't wait for this pack of clowns to lose the license

It's pretty bad if they can't get customisable lobbies  on Xbox One. They're on PS4 and pretty much any sports game. No excuses.

Incidentally, what I'm getting from this information, is that the X1 version may not have a custom lobby browser at launch, but should still be able to create private lobbies (EG: for leagues) that people can be invited to straight out the box. Is this the case please?

Have Slightly Mad Studios better developers than CM or why have they find the way for costumer lobbys and CM not ? 

I belive that cm would find solution if it would be just a matter of CM.. try to contact microsoft- probably its their fault.  
Or better.. buy ps4 ;)

During the f1 2015 CM would make a patch for the matchmaking lobbys, but they have not found the right way on x1. Now we have the next game and the same problem.  No matchmaking lobbys but the promise, that they are working on a patch.
Only empty promises.
When they tell us the problems and what they think, there is a Chance for matchmaking lobbys in next month's or not.... that is the right way to handle these problems with us.

All my friends have a x1, my league is on x1...  I cant change to PS4

Going to patch in a lobby browser like you did with 2015 eh.....oh wait...you guys pretty much abandoned ship on the xbox one version once its released and it still sits there missing features the ps4 and pc have......will it be added as a new feature for 2017 as pretty much all the things you have added to 20 16 are things ripped from old versions of the game......really dissapointed

Yes, you have the possibility for AI drivers.

Yeah, you can pretty much do a Co-Op using it, but maybe without progression from season to season. Whats better now is you can run a s many humans as you want -  Ihad thought a four player Co-op with two teams would be great, say Ferrari team and Red Bull team trying to take the fight to Mercedes :)

Well Xbox multiplayer still rubbish. All i get is error - Failed to join Session. 

Also add some better options like short qualifying & 50% i don't want one shot qualifying.  :'(

i have the luck to play the xbox one version now, @Codemasters at is a fantastic game thx. but the online modus on xbox is a desaster, please find a way to add custom lobbys...please!

Do I really want to spend £50 on a game with hoppers and useless options of sprint mode again? 
I want to be able to race 25-50-100% races online with my friends, and join custom lobbies!!!! 
How hard can it be to get through to Codemasters?

So basically there will be no way to search the currently active lobbies on Xbox. Previously from '10-'14 I guess it would have been, I would start F1, go to multiplayer and see all the active lobbies. "Oh look there is my friend Chris's lobby, but they are at Singapore doing a 3 lapper, no thanks. Ah look there's Martin's lobby and they are doing a 50% at Spa with qualifying. Perfect" and then click to join?

Can anyone from Codemasters explain why a lobby browser cannot be implemented? Having a system to 'place' me in the most suitable lobby is not what people have been asking for since F1 2015. Specifically people want the ability to chose the lobby they are joining, not have some algorithm tell me "THE LOBBY YOU WANT, THIS IS"

Are we to believe then that in all the months this game has been in development, NOBODY took into account the feedback from last years Xbox version and tried to bring back what we had before? And you're only realizing this now?

The multiplayer section is pretty basic right now. 

Matchmaking; 

Rookie: 3 lap no qually, damage or collisions, clear weather.
Sprint: 5 lap no qually or damage, collisions on, clear weather.
Endurance: 25%, OSQ, no damage, collisions in, dynamic weather.

Is a lobby browser just not coming?
As of now there is no way for me to see what lobbies are available, and I cant get an open lobby (okay few users are probably racing at 03:50) unless it's belonging to a person on my friends list.

Also looks like all the matchmaking lobbies allow assists. At least stick a 25% with shirt qually and no assists allowed on end if we're not gonna get a lobby browser.
