So in a nutshell were getting screwed over by a bigger company. While a smaller company which may have realised they made a mistake (fair play to them) can do a better job with smaller resources than they can. Brilliant just brilliant.

Hoping this is the right place for this. Just wanted to ask what the white bars on the connection graphic meant against a name in a multiplayer lobby? 

Red, orange and green obviously self explanatory but im seeing lots of white bars too.

This multiplayer situation on Xbox is a joke!. 
Why can't I create or join an online session that's customised for duration, assists, circuit and weather.?

White bars are used when a connection rating isn't available, usually when a connection test hasn't yet been completed.

Whats that mean? Is there somewhere like a manual where all this is explained. To do with racenet registration maybe?

Well we may not have a lobby browser on XB1 but I must say I've already had a more positive experience on this game than in my entire time on F1 2015. Just had a race with 19 players in the Sprint mode, I think the most I ever found online last year was 3 people! Let's hope it stays this way

That symbol indicates a player who has the DLC installed.

If you want to race in multiplayer games using one of the bonus helmets from the DLC pack then create a career avatar with the appropriate helmet selected and then choose to use your career avatar online from the driver select screen in the multiplayer lobby. I think the default setting is actually to use your career avatar if you have one.

Not bad, just hasn't synched with the rest of the lobby yet. I got it after joining a lobby that hadn't started yet, then it synchs amd I can see them all, and once I joined an in progress Lobby - omce race was over and everyone returned it synched and showed me everyones connection including mine

What is the point of open lobbies. How do I find them? If I set one up, who can join.

Releasing the game like this, in terms of Multiplayer on Xbox, is the pits.

in lobbies just make the default for peoples mics to mute all.

more often that not you dont want noise of peoples mics. so default as all muted would make more sense than open all for default.

the online matchmaking lobby's will all be dead in a week or two like every other year.
dissapointed once again with online options on XB1

A bit of both, I'd imagine. Microsoft are pretty strict about what they allow re multiplayer, but on the other hand Project Cars eventually found a way to implement a lobby browser, even though they too originally said they weren't allowed to.

They did not just "patch it in when they realised how crap it was". SMS originally said that they couldn't provide a lobby browser on Xbox because of "first party reasons", which is also what Codemasters told us last year.

I had the same problem until I changed my Steam region to U.K.-London. Still not a huge amount, but enough to be getting on with.

I did this as well since there were only a few people in a single lobby in the American region. I switched over to the UK - London server as well and found endless people to race with 10-15 lobbies. No idea why anyone thinks region locking is a good idea.

yeah, this region locking thing is ridiculous on PC. And no lobby list on XB1 is stupid. PS4 players are really getting the preferential treatment here....

Thankfully I have a PS4, XB1 and PC... but I prefer racing F1 on the Xbox Controller :(

Sorry silly double post 
I have all 3 versions of this game and the xbox version is easily the worst of the 3 if mp is your thing

1) why is a smaller developer capable of getting a lobby browser implemented but not a developer thats been around since the late 80s??

2) codemasters knew about this feature and how people wanted it since 2015 and still released a game without one

3) the xbox version is a horribly optimised version compared to the other 2 versions and is full of glitches...net issues and looks like someone went to town with the Vaseline.....minimal effort it appears to get them it least parity like other developers.

I cant really find a silver lining here apart from the game plays better with the xbox controller.....if it were not for the stupid region switch you have to do with pc f1 id say thats the best version for mp but its bloody annoying having to change download regions in steam
