AI retiring and swapping teams in Career

Recommended Posts

One of the immersion breakers in past career modes has been fixed AI drivers. Do we know if drivers like Button and Massa will retire. It would seem odd if Massa is still in the game in year 10 when he's 45. It would also be nice to see younger drivers come in and the other young drivers currently in F1 move to better teams.

i know that in the past it's something codemasters wanted to do, but weren't allowed by F1 powers, despite explaining to them it something we see in all football games.

has there been a change or will I be battling for the championship against Massa in 2027

It's shame they haven't convinced F1 owners that it's good for the license as is full damage. F1 can bee too small minded sometimes

no the restrictions are still in place for 2016 I'm afraid only you are allowed to move from team to team. The FIA have eased up  a little bit to allow CM some freedom in adding bits but unfortunately this is not one of them.

Yeah, this is FOM's exclusive fault for sure. Obviously Codemasters would have done this too if they could since we all know most sports games do that (Madden, NBA, FIFA for example) and would be a much more realistic thing, both driver transfers and old drivers retiring with new ones coming into the sport!

I wonder if is up to us gamers to write/petition to FOM, only way I can see it ever changing. Or is that too drastic

i think it would also allows to manage our own new team, like some of the old nascar games.

Still no driver changes and it's all thanks to FOM.
In this caase it is much more a matter of logic an physics. How coud CM know which Driver will join F1 in 2021? Or 2026?

If we got 50 000-100 000 signatures on Change.org, we might have a decent chance. Pretty much all the recent new cool stuff and the changes FOM have made have come from the vocal fans.

That doesn't make sense, why would it be any diffrent to FIFA and PES. I would argue it's easier given pool of potential drivers is smaller than potential footballers. A quick glance though autosport is enough to work out the talent pool from lower catogories.

I would argue it's not a 10 year career simulation if there are no driver changes. It also misses out one of most important parts of the F1 career, the silly season. Even if they can't introduce new drivers, drivers changing teams is logical. with the existing drivers it would ensure the best drivers always got moves to the number one team e.g. If Haas become the best team, Hamilton's AI character would move to Haas. Rather than you going head to head with Gutierrez for the championship.

also worth remembering most teams have more than two driver signed to the team. They way codemasters could get around this issue would be to swap older drivers like Massa with test driver after a certain amount of time. I think this would mean they would not fall foul of FOM. in fact I would like the idea of starting as the test driver, as we did in old SCE games.

but this all of this is  moot, codemasters would love to do all of this, the reason they don't do this isn't logic or physics, it a stubborn FOM, trying to sell their 2016 brand, as we know from real F1 they're not really in the business of giving the fans what they want.

Maybe its money issue. For Fifa thats not a problem because EA has all the money in the world. Moneywhores....For PES is not a problem because they dont even have the license for most of clubs and players. So probably FOM is moneywhore as well and we know that CM is not that big of a company like EA...Perhaps thats the issue here.

Well think about it, we cant have full damage because not only the FOM could not let codies do it but its sometimes the teams decision meaning that if the teams FE: Ferraris spoiler had sponsering they wanted to showcase then they want to keep it there not for it to be flown off. So when it comes to damage its not the FOM but its the teams who make that decision aswell. This was explained in Aarav's video

Well my early post uses a catch all term F1 powers tp describe the whole of F1, so we agree, not sure what your point is.

Yeah probably a bit of both Codies do not have the power and for such a small company, relative to EA, it would hurt their profit line if F1 said you're being to fussy well give the license to to someone else who will do what we say. F1 is a licence to print money. Having said that I wouldn't mind if Codemasters had a crack at Indycar
