DiRT Rally Update - Version 1.22. Found a bug? Post it here!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

A further update is out following yesterday's patch, which addresses some of the issues that arose from  v1.21. See below for the fix list, and please let us know if there's anything that seems to have been missed!

Thanks,
Christina

Version 1.22 Fix list - Steam

·         Audio - Engine and Co-Driver balance is now back to how it was in 1.20.

·         Audio - Surround now works like it did in 1.20.

·         Audio - Engine audio during post race sequence now plays out correctly.

I can already hear the screams about downloading such a bi... oh wait, 1.5MB, nvm then :D
Well, the one before this one was like 18MB, so not really big either :D

Still very pixelated shadows at front of car when playing with cockpit view or dashcam. They came after console release patch. Problem is there with low, medium and high shadow quality. Very low looks better than high because these "minecraft looking" shadows. Ultra is ok, but I think most of players aiming 60fps with cockpit view are going with high. Shadows at longer distance and inside of car are looking good even with medium setting.

iam playing this game with Steam, have buy a DVD with key.
Sience the patch 1.2.1 my Fps goes down. i make some tests with systems and have not found why i become bad fps performances, have try some ways with vcredist and Grafix drivers. I think i found the error, they have make simply a kind of Frame Rate Control error.
My English is worst:

Now i found something that can be simply indenticate that the Patch is not good or very bad.

The Banchmark Files have diferences in the Structure, and the Structure in Game Settings must be have manipulatet with the patch 1.2 i think

Just Look at the Struckture with minimal and avrage, since the patch the Numbers or Results have not the right direction! Please anybody post ur old Benchmark xml and a new xml.

Look at the date, and look on minimal fps (wihout "ms") in the newer benchmarks with patch 1.22 its wrong Tree direction, my engslih is wurst.

Edit: for better understanding befor u read all settings
New xml (patch 1.22) this line:

"<fps_race av_fps_ms="31.602772" max_fps_ms="24.853521" min_fps_ms="40.047684" av_fps="31.642794" max_fps="40.235748" min_fps="24.970232"/>"

old xml (patch 1.1 or 1.2.0) line:
"<fps_race av_fps_ms="18.292137" max_fps_ms="13.783390" min_fps_ms="24.828545" av_fps="54.668297" max_fps="72.551094" min_fps="40.276222"/>"

can u understand me? the minimal fps is same as the maximal result, that can be the error in the patch that simply build a Frame Rate control in for my 8750m and 4200U.

Codemasters pls solve it. i will play this nice game with max Fps that i have had in past.

My Tests:Now new Testing (Edit)
4200U
8750m
at beginning (same Game Graphics Settings) 1024x768 i hate to play under 35FPS:

Its important to play in normal Fullscreen to become more FPS.

Win 10 pro 64x 1511 10586.420 with ATI 1,6,3,2
min 40.28 FPS, max 72,55 FPS 11228 FRAMES
only Windowed mode, normal Fullscreen Fail (by Extern VGA Display)

Win 10 pro 64x14393,10 with ATI 1,6,7,3
min 35,79 , max 59,96 FPS 9640 FRAMES
only Windowed mode, normal Fulllscreen Fail (by Extern VGA Display)

Win 7 32bit 6701 SP1 kernel Up, Platform Up. ATI 1,6,7,1 / 1,6,6,1 (only some FPS difference)
min. 40,81, max 74,48 10808 FRAMES
Fullscreen OK, Windowed OK. (by extern VGA)

Win 10 pro 64x14393,51 with ATI 1,6,7,3 . Dirt 1,2,1
min. 19,16 , max. 29,65 46XX FRAMES
only Windowed mode, normal Fullscreen Fail (by Extern VGA Display)

Win 10 pro 64x14393,51 with ATI 1,6,8,2 . Dirt 1,2,1
min. 25 , max. 40.11 6501 FRAMES
only Windowed mode, normal Fullscreen Fail (by Extern VGA Display).

I buy this game on DVD, have new System and dont play this game :(
i hope MS and AMD with Codemasters Solve the Fullscreen Problem and make good FPS performance, only at 35FPS this game make good Feeling.

Edit:

Win 10 pro 64x14393,51 (clean no errors) with ATI 1,6,7,3 . Dirt 1,2,2
min. 24,4 , max. 40.35 Avrage 30,35 FPS 6501 FRAMES
only Windowed mode tested. and beacuse only 24,4 FPS have make Alt +F4 :(...cant play this game with fun and speed feeling, pls Codemasters and Rally masters solve it.

it was be 11808 FRAMS and minimal 40FPS its slower with this Updatet System, and u must have udatet for online play and for Forza APEX beta. u Must need minimal ATI 1,6,7,3 or it dosnt start!
in Past it Run on older Graphics Driver, whats a Buisness

Edit:
Win 10 pro 64x14393,51 (clean no errors) with ATI 1,6,7,3 . Dirt 1,0,1
min.42,30 , max. 75.44  Avrage .... FPS 11638 FRAMES
Have downgradet this game from 32bit system to 64bit (no 64 bit needed = minimal Systemrequirements on DVD package is a Buisness Lie or not Updatet)
Very Good from Codemasters that i can Play it online with older Version, but have not the Tracks or Cars updates, the Gfx update is worst and bring me bad Fps in Benchmark and Game.
I hope that Codemasters Brings Patches with name and for what it stand for for example: only Nvidia GTX 260 960... or Amd R9 290 and and and, my Gfx settings with water and Rain are buitifull and i dont need to change it and have very good Fps, i only need the Cars and Tracks with the .exe file that can start the programmed files!

There are no career events, custom or championship, for Modern Hillclimb. You can buy the car in career, but you can't drive or upgrade. Please at least add to custom championships.

That was a licensing thing, Peugeot only allowed the 208 T16 PP to be used on asphalt. You can upgrade it, if it every comes up in a daily event (so far that has happened once. If you set all your perks for that car, one event is enough to fully upgrade it)

Well, that's good to know. But I also think that the non career custom mode should not be affected by career upgrades. If you start the game for the first time, you can drive any car fully upgraded. Then, as you purchase them in career, the custom rally (non-career), will match whatever upgrade state exsists in the career garage. So, if you buy the Modern Hillclimb Pug, aren't able to play the day that the planets align to upgrade on a dirt daily, then by buying the car in career, you've just made it slower in custom mode. I think the custom mode cars should have dashed out (always max) upgrades, regardless of career garage. It also makes it easier to benchmark all cars in a class a bit later in the game, or if you take a long break from it, when you've bought all the cars in a class but perhaps only upgraded one in it; it's then harder to see how the car drives with max potential and compare to others in the class, since by buying it it "loses" upgrades, in custom non career. TLDR: keep upgrades in career (custom and championships) remove upgrades so that they all always (not just until bought in career) maxed out.

Also! Bug still persists! Surround sound still not working. The hotfix did not fix it from last patch, but all the other audio issues brought with it were fixed, thanks. PLEASE fix the surround sound. It's crazy how much of a difference it makes without the rear channels. It really helps me to meter grip, plus it sounds amazing when it was working. Please look into it again. Or tell me what file to modify. Or should I verify files in steam!?

That's already what happens. In Custom mode you always have fully upgraded cars. It just shows you the upgrades you have for it just for your own information.

Not sure if it will fix your issue but, in Windows Audio settings make sure it's set to 48k Hz

Thanks, but I'm supporting DTS and Dolby surrond at 48k,96k,192k, when I launch the game, my receiver displays DTS 48k, and at all times in the game, there is nothing being sent to rear channels. I put my ear up to the rears while driving a stage and hear only a very faint static, meaning it is sending a signal to the rear, but there is no rear input coming from the game. Please double check this issue. Maybe it works on "surround" headphones, but real surround sound, so aptly named "home cinema kit" in-game, isn't working since last two patches. Since the VR updates, it seems normal users are only being hindered and inconvenienced. I've tried all combinations of the very basic audio settings, both low-high dynamic range in headphones, TV, and flat. Before I was high range and flat, so the receiver could do it's job, and it sounded great. But now, to no avail. I've also verified my game cache for good measure, but that did nothing.

So, I'm looking into the config files to see if I can edit something, but I really feel the surround issue is coded into the executable. Boot_data.xml tells be to looks at configs/audio_settings.xml which contains only the slider/volume settings, and the /audio contains no relevant .xmls, from what I could tell. So I'm pretty much at end end of my expertise with this issue. Gonna need Codies or a modder to reenable surround sound. :/

Been over a week and no response? Still no sound from rear channels and it makes a huge difference for gameplay and audio quality. In dash or cockpit cam I can't even hear when a rear tire is gone and I'm driving on a rim. Trust me, happened on both runs of Pikes Peak today (strangely with no impacts) and wasn't fun to figure out.

Devs can you at least post to tell us you're reading these threads, not just making them needlessly?

My T300 isn't recognized. Nor are my Fanatec CSR Elite pedals, or my TH8A shifter. Wtf is going on with this game? Best Rally Sim and no wheel support?

Oh, been meaning to tell you the past few days, my 7.1 is working fine... so... might just be your game?

Do you have Nvidia Experience in Beta version installed? If yes then remove or rollback to stable version.

Well, I'm 5.1, no idea if that makes a difference, but honestly it's only outputting stereo, so.... Also, are you sure you're getting surround, or just audio output to all speakers. Just because all speakers are making noise doesn't mean it's surround. Depending on your setup on 7.1 it could just be 4 sets of stereo. Maybe it is my game, but the last patch didn't undo the patch before' mistake.

No, it's definitely surround. The rear channels are putting out rear tire squeals and rock hits. I could try 5.1, but don't see how that would hinder it. Have you tried the game cache or redownloading? I agree it's dumb to make a VR update, especially when according to Steam less than 1% of the Steam population has VR. That means even less play DR, and the VR updates seem to always break something.

You forgot about one very simply thing... people that play racing sims usually have money to spare, same goes with those that have VR. And given that VR people will be happy to acquire games that support it, chances are high that a grand majority of VR users have DiRT Rally. So that 1% on Steam will result in a lot more than 1% in the game itself. A lot more.

Also, just in case someone doesn't realise, a lot of Steam accounts are multiple ones or unused ones. If Steam could actually show the portion of really used accounts that can run VR, then that % would be a lot higher.

And another important thing. People that are dissatisfied are almost guaranteed to voice their opinion, while those that are satisfied usually don't really bother with it. Just something to think about before calling a game update "dumb".

It's one thing to be able to run VR, it's another to both own, and then actually use it. There's a grand total of about 300,000 or so people using VR on Steam. You expect me to believe every one of them plays DR on a frequent basis? According to Steamspy, there's about 350,000 Steam users, which obviously doesn't include the consoles, so, no. It's still dumb. I'm also talking about the number of VR sets sold, it's tanking badly. You can't possibly have more VR users than the amount of headsets sold. And most of them don't give a rats ass about racing games, other than trying it with an Xbox controller once or twice. At best I'd say there's a few hundred that actually play DR with VR. So... you're still wrong.
