Race Driver GRID won't save profile

I have a Win 7 64bit, i5-2500k, 16Gb system. During installation (at least 7 times) I get an error message towards the end of the installation stating (Internal Error: Failed to expand shell folder constant "userdocs"). I am given a choice to Abort/Retry/Ignore. Retry does not work, ignore completes installation. When I run the game, I get to the create profile screen and when it gets to the last step, it gives me the error message "failed to create autosave file".

UAC is disabled
I install and run with administrator privileges
I tried disabling the windows firewall and GRID has an exception for private networks.
I have tried creating a userdocs folder in the GRID folder
I have tried creating an autosave folder in the GRID folder

Nothing has corrected the problem!

i have the same error. want to punch screen each time i try and same thing - "save_profile_fail_int_error"
