Impressions from someone who hasn't played since 2011

Recommended Posts

I haven't played F1 since I think it was the 2011 version, m '16 copy arrived today and I did the first race of my career on 50% with no assists.

Wow, what a difference to the last version I played. Too much throttle and round you go, I couldn't attack the kerbs without spinning. I have to say the braking is the best I have experienced in any game, somehow even through I'm using the pad I can feel when the inside wheel is about to lock going into a turn.

I started in a McLaren on hard difficulty (started on Legend but knocked it down when I was getting nowhere near the times needed in practice). Qualified 8th, finished 14th after two stopping when most people ended up stopping once. I think I need to look after my tyres more! Having said that Australia is never a good track for me so it will be interesting to see how I go on a track I'm more familiar with.

I had difficulty when the engineer suggested different strategies to me - I needed a longer straight to review - is there a way to do this in the pause menu?

All in all, great first race, no bugs that I saw, I'm hoping Codemaster have finally cracked it.

Nice first impression, and I absolutely agree with your idea to implement a feature where we can see the MFD in the pause menu. Would be really helpful.

Also, is there a way to display how many laps the opponents have done on their current set of tyres? A display next to their name tag above the car would be nice.

Check race director in the pause menu, tells you what tyres AI are on lap by lap giving you the info you need.
Also for changing strategy, in the beta once you click the button to see the options you should get a 20 second countdown timer which stays on screen for you. That's how it was in the beta and always gave me time to find a straight

One thing I always missed in the codies F1 games is a simple time chart where I can see whow far away everybody is on track.
In the race director I can see in what place everybody is  but I would like to now how f ar in time they are ahead or behind me. It would make strategy decisions much easier. I m guessing this still isnt impemented in F1 2016?
