2016 Handling is TERRIBLE on Controller

I think this is too easy for the people using TC. It should be slower with TC but im finding people getting faster times with it on. Cant wait for the server browser update. TC will be off in my rooms.
Ditto. I found turning traction control and ABS off gives you a hell of a lot more work to do, but little gain in speed. IME normally when you turn the assists off you benefit significantly in time, not so here.

Pad is fine, it's just different, harder basically. Take some time to get used to it. Don't drive out of the pits and do a lap like last years game.
Are you serious? Have you actually played the game? Are you competitive at any of the higher levels of difficulty? Not being sarcastic here, I am actually interested.  I honestly don't believe that anyone that plays with pad and competes at Expert or Legend could think that its ok.
I drive with Pad and I have the world record in Baku (not included the cheaters) and Abu Dhabi in the wet and at some other tracks, I can also compete with Ultimate AI.
I was able to do this on the first day..
it is a pretty good handling

Well I want to say that the 2016 game is the best to date with my Steering wheel.  Maybe I didn't setup 2015 properly.  But the 16 game on Xbox has very good FFB.  I tried to show my appreciation to CODIES... I bought the PC version.

One issue.... Why is there no White Flag on the last lap

Handling of 2016 on controller is good, and smooth, without many parameters, leaving the Handling more natural... But, the problem is the limitation of a joystick. I try, I'am feeling the car in my hands, but it's impossible to be like a Wheel, unfortunately... I hope that Codemasters got improve yet, to make us, play with totally controller in hands, because, I can't do a Hotlap always equal. I fail many times, because play with a controller is variable, relative so much, unfortunately. But Codemasters can improve, I believe!

Personally play on a controller in 2016 all assists off (except gears) and have to say that I have absoutely no problems at all and I'm not exactly the best driver. Overall find the handling very good with lots of depth.

Gonna bump this needlessly, because, let's face it, they aren't gonna deal with it.
There's nothing to deal with here..

Reads 11 page thread on issue.

No issue here

Wake up.
Well...did you read it? Because if you did you would find a solution within first 2 pages for sure. Other 10 pages are just people saying there is no problem with handling, handling is awesome or is just offtopic comments. So check what people wrote, play a little with linearity settings or whatever settings they were talking about. If that doesnt help you than buy new controller. There is a reason this discussion ended in August...

Read it? I contributed to half of it, so evidently you haven't read it. If you had read it, you would have seen pages 9 and 10 full of discussion, suggesting (quite correctly) that there wasn't a solution in 2 pages, and people continued to talk about the issue

"whatever settings they were talking about". You haven't read it, have you? But nice, if incorrect, guess at what was said.

and the reason the discussion finished in August was because we got to the end of august and realised CM had no intention of looking at this issue.
Well...i guess non of us 2 read it than because i too contributed to it EXACTLY on pages 9 and 10.....and btw did you even try to solve it with those mentioned settings? Because i did. I had a problem on release as well and those settings solved my problem. Thats why Im trying to tell you all this. It worked and people arent complaining since. You can see countless of thread being open about same thing on and on and on so dont tell me discussion ended because CM had no intention of looking at the issue because it doesnt matter.

Wait i just checked your profile and it says you joined november 2016. How the hell did you contribute to this thread than?

I thought the handling was same as 2015 when first brought game out it was just getting used to the grip that took a couple of races to get used to think read some where on here about someone saying that the feel the is a delay in steering when turning I had a problem like that when bought a new tv after messing about with settings on xbox and tv for ages managed to get it sorted when changed a tv setting from cinama to gaming

Hi,
i play F1 2016 on Xbox One with Controller in Career-Mode.

The first View on this Version is positiv, but the Tyre-Test with Controller i cant realize. If i have a good Tire-Using, the Time is zu bad (normaly 2 Seconds to slow). If i have a good Time, the Tyre-Using is very bad. So i get no Credits.
Do you have Tipps to finish the Tyre-Using-Test successfull without Wheel?

Best regards

Ralf Pressler
I can easily complete the tyre wear test with a controller. The key to beating it is to be very careful on the throttle and brakes, and to steer smoothly. Also, put the engine mode to rich mix so you go faster.

..I was praising the controls needing some skill. I only now discover what is wrong with the controls...
A few months later after I haven't played the game I notice the obvious on my X360 pad - steering is WAY TOO SLUGGISH. I don't know, maybe it's X360 controller thing or something (as I don't have any other controller to test), but I was seeing stuff about slow steering and other problems in RaceDepartment, so I decided to get back in the game myself and test it a bit in Time Trial. Test was simple - try switching car directions while standing, driving slowly and "lost control" situations. Pointed out the obvious - default in-game linearity setting is WAY too high. I mean, I'm okay with handling this year, but steering slowing down near the middle? Really? Not to mention snapping to the center for a split second before turning SLOWLY (again) to the other side? Why?? If I turn quickly from left to right (aggresive input), I want a 1:1 output (1:1 in gamepad style I mean) steering wheel turning quickly left to right (aggresive output), without stopping in the middle. Now I turned from full left to full right, steering comes back from full left and slows down in center, then after split second of stopping in the middle it slowly turns fully to the right... Not to mention that's why you pretty much can't play without flashbacks - if you oversteered, you can try and save, but it will work only like 1/10 times, while even in 2015 or earlier you could recover from it like 5/10 times (or more)...

TL;DR - @Lozzy or anyone from Codemasters, if you guys are still planning to release a new patch, could you tone down the DEFAULT built-in-game steering linearity for XInput pads, please? I think toning it down would improve the game for pad users a lot; an "override input device type" option would be a nice alternative too. (And no, I'm not buying a wheel.)

EDIT: I decided to include a video which got me suspicious and testing myself - other people will probably agree that this is a problem. Also, I'm on a X360 WIRED controller.
