Fututre DLC's for Dirt Rally will be coming?

Recommended Posts

DiRT Rally is such a good base game, I would be dissapointed if there are no more rally stages, rallycross loacations and hillclimb locations added.

Well, the thing is that it's not a good base game. The game engine is limited and needs an overhaul. We can't have longer stages here, we can't have Rally MP here and graphics, especially lighting could also be better.
I'm not saying DiRT is a bad game, I'm just saying it's not worth the effort. I'd rather they make an improved game engine which supports all these things and more and make a DiRT Rally 2 / DiRT 4 or whatever

Totally agree with this. I love DR and have spent many hours in it, more than in any racing game I've ever played but I understand its limitations. I've been playing Assetto Corsa with some mods recently like the Impreza WRC and some tarmac rally tracks and the feedback from the road and feel of the cars are the best i've felt. DR is the best game it can be with what it was, they had no idea if it was successful so used assets they already had and had to make unavoidable trade offs, such as reducing gravity for the more realistic lack of grip. I think even now the grip can be too much but if reduced anymore, then the cars would fly into space over jumps.

Now that I'm sure they're focused on a brand new engine built from the ground up, we will see some brilliant physics and can't wait to see whats coming, I saw a post saying to keep a look out over the next couple of months!

Not to derail the thread, but I got AC just because ppl here on the forum appear to think it great on tarmac. I have a T300 RS set, and I get no feeling for the road at all. Feels like whatever I do I get only heaps of understeer, and FFB is quite dead compared to DR.

Sounds like you need to fiddle a bit more with the settings, it feels great on my G27.

I also don't find AC to be that great. What FFB settings are you using? (you may also want to seriously consider getting a refund if you're not blown away by hotlapping.)

I want to like the rally mods on AC but to me it still feels like a racecar in rally disguise. And the gravel mods is just a no no. And I hate the sounds in AC. Generic and digital.

Oh, and some of the devs kinda behaves like assholes towards the community.

I used to hate them as well, but they improved a lot during my 2 year abscence:

The first one sounds like they are racing in a hangar or something. Second... apart from the mad dance of the hands, doesn't sound very... cockpit like. Can't come up with good words to describe how it sounds.

But I agree with @bogani the sounds are on the worse side. Not as bad as the graphics which come straight from PS3 era and yet the game barely runs on a PS4...

I'm using default T300 settings pretty much, figured it was a standard wheel so defaults should be usable if nothing else.

Well there's some FFB settings you can try and fiddle with if you want. Do you know what kind of deadzone you have? I think on the forums there was a LUA/LUT generator to give your wheel a more linear response curve which helps. Otherwise try turning the effects up, and turn the false effects down. You might also have some dampening on your wheel.
But again, I agree. Everyone makes it seem like AC is some black magic when it comes to FFB and honestly I think PCars (When I finally got it properly configured a year later) and even BeamNG have better FFB. BeamNG is actually the only game that feels like a real car to me. Each car has different forces, unlike AC where a 1960 Lotus open wheel feels the same as the new little Fiat Abarth with power steering.

Some cars sound better than others, but overall it's still lacking badly. The "start up" sound you get when you enter a track after it's loaded... I really can't describe how awful that is.

I would like to see a DLC pack with more RX cars and tracks, especially the Audi S1 EKSRX, and I would even pay for a dlc which only contains the Audi

I'd like to see some cars from the ERC like the skoda fabia and Peugeot 208...the normally aspirated engines sound great

also does anyone else remember the Renault Megane F2 car from the late 90's? That was a beast!

You can play with Audi S1 RX, in AMS ( Automobilista ), if you have the game. Not the best, but it's a very decent mod, for AMS.

And for the people missing Gymkhana...

I'm surprised that no one mentioned AMS ( no one plays this game? ), in the chit-chat about FFB, Tarmac physics, Sounds, in any of the posts above. AMS it's very good. Graphics are...meh, but we don't drive the cars with our eyes, but with the physics =)

I've actually thought AMS looked quite nice, but after being so disappointed with AC and PCars I just didn't want to get any more circuit racers.

get the settings right and assetto corsa tarmac is probably best about. i do get what you saying though. as i originally got it refunded myself but after thinking so many cant be wrong brought it again and kept on at it and then stumbled on a post on steam for my wheel. it transformed it.

really enjoy it now.
