Recommended Posts

Do you guys have the same thing that your Delta for Tyre management and Quali test are to hard to beat?

I manage the tyres very well but still i am 0.7 off the Delta time and it is annoying me already. :D

Is the tyre management test based on difficulty?
I'm playing on ''hard'' because is still need to get a good feeling with the game but every lap is 2 seconds faster than Delta with purple every single lap.

I'm playing with a wheel, without assists.

Try to first acclimatise to the track. If you have a rainy session, tyre wear tests are easy but if you then have a dry race you can't show your projected strategy. From experience you will be almost 1 second faster if you have acclimatised to the track and can really push the limits without going off the track. I know it sounds weird but that are my experiences.

Yh i had that problem for the first race but the key is to be as smooth as possible to keep the tyre wear down

Yes, the delta depends on difficulty

You should reduce fuel load when in a practice session. This way you'll speed your car up because there less weigth in the car. The downside on this is that you can do less laps on a faster engine mode.

Well, Marketing is telling us that Formula One are the best Drivers in the fastest cars [ LOL] !
The Tyre-management-Test is a real ride on the razors edge, spoken from my Little experience. It's a real challenge. To my liking, it's ok. Shows us how "hard" it must be to drive a modern F1 car to be competitive.

I'm in the Mclaren on legend, I've done a full race weekend, I did the track acclimatisation (perfect) in practice 1 then did about 25 laps after it working out a setup,
Practice 2 I did the tyre wear test on Softs, had to do 10 laps and I got perfect on every lap, then more setup work (23 laps for the session)
Practice 3 I did a few laps then the qualy pace programme and I did a 1:27.7 which put me in 5th and obviously smashed the purple target lap which was 11th with a 1:28.3 and the target lap time to pass was a 1:28.9 if I remember correctly.
Going into qualy now with 48 laps completed all up in practice it's finally good to get rewards for effort.
Although every session is dry the race is wet so should be tricky!

Edit: I'm on the wheel with no assists

I had problems with it on legendary difficulty (wasnt a problem on 2015). Also in the quali and race I couldn't keep up with middle field of the grid, in a torro rosso... So I have to swallow my pride and scale it down to expert. Its perfect now. Practise, qualify and race are challenging but not impossible.

Also I think that it will get easier after upgrading a few parts.

Yeah the tyre wear test is too hard. I'd rather there wasn't a delta time because I don't go too far over it and keep it green or purple all the time. xMattyG finds it hard too, maybe it's a pad thing?

I guess im not the only one. Im in a Manor and just finished first race and im not disappointed with my result (20th) but if it wasnt for Hulkenbergs failure and Magnussen crash i would be last by 30min+. Im scaling down to expert as well for my future races till i really get used to new handling and get fast enough for legend AI again. Im still going to be around last place but atleast i will fight with Wehrlein who almost lapped me in Australia LoL.

Most of us who are struggling seem to be in the Manor. Maybe it's balanced that way so that you don't pass all the tests straight away and upgrade quickly. Perhaps it's done so it will take years to get enough points to move Manor up the grid. As you develop and get quicker the tests should become easier.

Yes I'm on the Manor as well. Hopefully this improves. Are we all on a pad as well or are some having issues on a wheel?

I'm with McLaren on Legend. I'm finding the tyre wear and quali ones very hard as well. I say this only because I'm miles behind everyone in the practice sessions which still struggling to complete the tests, then I've qualified in Q3 twice so far and finished second twice in the races. They just don't seem quite scaled right. I'm having to go absolutely all out to finish the tests so it doesn't really feel like I'm working up to anything come the race.

Hi guys I bought a wheel today so have been getting used to that. Just done the tyre test in Australia on both pad and wheel. Despite some horrible driving with a wheel I kept it out the red. As soon as I switched to the pad I ruined the tyres.

I feel the tests enforce a better way of driving, even if you don't pass them all the first time. And why should we pass all tests always? There is no fun in that... I had half of the points in Australia and Bahrain, seems good to me.

I find them impossible to do at Legend difficulty. But when I tried putting it down to Expert, they were incredibly easy to pass.
So, I figured I maybe also had to swallow my pride and play on Expert, but then in Qualifying, I qualified 5th while driving for Haas F1 Team, which is of course unrealistic as hell. So when I bumped it back to Legend, I qualified 10th in Australia and managed to finish the race in 10th.
So in terms of qualifying and racing, Legend seems to be the difficulty for me. But for the tyre management and quali test in practice.. Absolutely impossible.

And yes, I play on the pad.

Do you still get the data for tyre strategy for the race? Because it shouldnt matter if you are in the red and fail the test because you will atleast know how you will wear the tyres in the race. Thats how it should be anyway so its not a complete waste of time for us pad users
