Sound is cracked, distorted and sped up PC.

Recommended Posts

Pre downloaded the game yesterday August 18. Today updated and started it. As soon as the game began the sound was distorted, cracking and sounded like it was on fast forward while the video was at normal speed. I removed the game and downloaded it again and same problem. Even the menu music is at high speed.

My specs :27" HP Z1 All-in-one 2TB SSD, 980M, 32GB Mem. IntelR XenonR CPU E3 1245 V2@3.40Ghz Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit

All Nvidia drivers updated, anti virus set to game mode. Haven't even started playing the game because i can't get past this issue.

Sounds like your audio bitrate might be the problem. Right click on the speaker in your system tray, right click on your output device, and go to the advanced tab. Check that this is either 44.1kHz or 48kHz. Could we have your soundcard model, too? Thanks.

Well looks like it works, sound now is crisp and perfect. Just a few questions game wise, how do you decrease the difficulty from ultimate etc and also change the views using an xbox controller on pc. Thanks

So you press the Right Bumper button (R1 position) to switch between cameras. You can change AI difficulty in the Race Settings menu when loading into a race. You can't change this during a weekend in career, but you can change between weekends.

Do you plan on fixing this issue?
Normally i'm using 24bit/192kHz (Creative Soundblaster Z)
It's a hassle to change the bitrate every time i want to play F1 2016, because no other game or program has this problem including F1 2015.

I don't think this is something we can fix our end, as it is appears to be certain audio cards/drivers failing to upsample a 48kHz signal from Wwise. I've personally tested on lots of different soundcards at 192kHz (including mine at home) and I've not had this issue, but a couple particular cards seem to be throwing this up.

I'll make note of all the cards that are causing this issue and take it from there on Monday.

OS: Windows 8.1 Pro (64bit)

This issue is now fixed and will be in a future patch.
I am looking forward to that resolution too, because it is the only game where I should change the setting (even your two other productions I own do not have this problem: F1 2012 and Dirt Rally
