PS4 Tyre change disqualification glitch (Huge stratergy issue)

Hi, I was driving a 25% co-op championship race today, I started on the soft tyres everyone else started on the super softs. Then at the pits I changed over to the super softs and everyone changed over to the softs. On the last lap I got disqualified for not changing compound when I did. Is there something im missing.
