F1 2016 Random Crashing to Desktop [PC]

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I've tried playing this game several times now with the career mode and it will randomly crash to desktop. I have not been able to finish the first practice session without it crashing to desktop. The crash is not occurring at the same point during the practice session and appears to happen at random. When it crashes there is no error message the game just closes.

My PC has the following specs:
Windows 10 64-bit
i7-6700K 4.00Ghz
8 Gigs of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 TI

I've updated the drivers to the GeForce Game Ready Driver that came out on August 15th. I have also tried lowering the graphics setting in the game to medium but still get random crashes.

Help?

Well i bought the game on release to play with my friend but when me and my friend tried the online career thing we can do the qualifying then when we get into the actual race i can maybe do 5-7 laps then the game freezes and just crashes to desktop without any errors or anything. same goes for the single-player career so at this point the game is pretty much unplayable due to i cant finish any races as the game crashes mid race.
I've lowered the settings to lowest and tried and still crashes i've validated the files on steam and i also have the latest update for both windows 10 and Nvidia. My friend who is pretty much running the same setup as me have yet not crashed so his is fine but mine crashes. I've googled but found nothing so unless i missed something please then tell me because i am getting a bit annoyed and sad at this point :/
What i got inside the rig.
Motherboard: MSI Z77A-G45
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770K CPU @ 3.50GHz OC to 4.5GHz
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX980 Ti SC+ 6GB
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB 1600MHz

Yep, same here - just closes the game for me straight back to the desktop.

GTX980 - latest drivers using the 'optimal settings'
Win 10, 16GB ram i7-4790

It really is apparently random. Sometimes upon loading the game, before getting to the initial menu. And then either loading a save game - saved at the start of practice 3 in Australia as a quick start - or leaving the garage at the start of a lap, sometimes during a lap, sometimes during entry to the garage after returning to the pits.

Same problem. In online and offline crash occurs on the desktop. There is a suspicion that it has something to do with Nvidia Eksperientse because ShadowPlay after inclusion, after some time there is a crash to the desktop. Time before departure srl randomly.

My PC has the following specs:
Windows 7 64-bit
i7-3770K 4.70Ghz (overclock)
16 Gb of RAM 2200 MHz (overclock)
GeForce GTX 780 Ti
Drivers 372.54

Looks like quite a few people are having this problem.

Codemasters: Can you please comment on this? Are you working on a fix? Require examples/additional information?

The game is currently unplayable.

Personally, I thought his problem by including V-Sync in the game. Similar problem was simply to GTA 5 and in both cases, the inclusion helped V-Sync. So I will not udtverzhat that this is a problem of the game, drivers. Perhaps this computer guilty. Try to accomplish your goal, and one that turned out.

I've thought about the possibility that my PC is old, but I have some games running normally as GTA V , Rise of the Tomb Raider and other games just F1 2016 crash to desktop.

CTd during career for me as well, doesn't seem to happen during time trial, did not happen at Melbourne, but happens within a few laps of any session at Bahrain.

All drivers up to date, temps are fine, tried lowering settings but made no difference, this needs some attention and am official response asap

I have deleted local files and am reinstalling as this did not happen at Melbourne, I will advise if this works or not.

I've had one CTD loading a quick race at Australia. I also get the loading screens freezing, but pressing enter skips those eventually.

Looks like my problem may be due to overheating, took side off case and game now runs without a problem, although this does not happen on any other game, could also be due to NVidia driver making card run hotter.

Hey!

Just so that we can get more information, have you gone through the steps detailed here:
http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/44224/how-to-report-a-bug-updated-please-read

1.       Ensure that your PC meets the minimum spec which can be found on the Steam Store Page

a.       http://store.steampowered.com/app/391040/

2.       Try running the game without any additional software running in the background, for example Fraps, MSI Afterburner, Nvidia Geforce Experience, AMD Gaming Evolved, Plays.tv, Anti Virus software etc

3.       Try running the game with the basic peripherals plugged into the PC i.e. only mouse and keyboard.

4. Have you overclocked your hardware

a.       Do you have the same issue when running at stock speeds

Hello jennyannem,
Thank you for responding to this post. My PC meets the minimum specs with no overclocked hardware and I have tried disabling
Nvidia Geforce Experience. I am also running the game with basic peripherals.
I am able to play other high end games such as Deus Ex Mankind Divided on high settings with no problems.

Yup, game crashes to desktop here as well

GTX 780
i5 4570
16 GB RAM

This is why I stopped buying your F1 games, they didn't work as advertised
