overheating engine

i have done 2 races so far and in both of them my engine is overheating and i lose power and lap time i am doing 100% races and on about lap 10 my engine overheats and loses power is it just me or are other people experiencing the same problem

You need to up shift a lot earlier. I was waiting on the purple as well (habit from 2013). Once you get the timing right, you actually gain time. Have a look at when the AI are shifting during practice to get an idea of the timing.

Yeah you should shift gears when it's close to purple. And make sure you don't downshift too early.
Will save loads of fuel as well.

For clarification with the 15 LED shift light system. The green set (for the few constructors that still utilize it) is approaching redline. The red set is redline. The blue set is overdrive. You absolutely must shift once all blue lights are on. Not to mention that there are fuel flow restrictions above 10,500rpms so as @Brabarusmark14 pointed out, you'll actually be quicker shifting on red instead of blue.
