Gap between Hard and Expert is way too big

Recommended Posts

Dear Codies,

I really enjoy your game and am genuinely happy with all the new features. But there´s one thing that´s restricting my gamejoy - the gap between the difficulites.

If I play on Hard I can qualifiy 1st in the Trainings and Qualifyings with a Haas and the AI in the race are way to passive. If I try Expert on the other hand, I´m not even able to beat the Delta Times in Training and Qualifying and end up beeing 22nd.

I´d really appreciate a solution like adjustable difficulties or whatsoever.

Thanks in advance.

When on hard difficulty,  you drive with cockpit view, simulation damage and no assists?

I don't know if this is correct. I did a Career at Hard first, and with a Toro Rosso I won Pole and the race easily.
Then I restarted the career on Expert with a Haas, and I had more trouble to get in front. I've did three races and I qualified around 5th,6th,7th place each time, and did some good races. I cannot follow the Mercedes, Ferrari, but that seems okay with a Haas.

Well no difficulty yes, but I don´t like the cockpit view at all, so that´s not an option

Well with a Toro Rosso or a Haas you should barely be in the top 10, so I'd say even Expert is still too easy.

Of course, Legendary AI will be way too difficult if the gaps between difficulties are consistent.

I only race on medium - hard but also find the gap far too big. I get pole and win most races in a mclaren on medium but on hard I'm 21st/22nd while Alonso steams from 15th to 5th. This is on career mode with a couple of upgrades. Seems the upgrades effect team mate but not me!

agree to the gap.
On hard 1sec above pace and on expert 1sec under pace.

The most anoing thing is practice sessions, in hard ill pass everthing easaly. On expert the tyre management is almost not do-able. Race is much more realistic. I think the diffriculty is not shaped enough

I have posted this somewhere else but if you're a second too fast on one difficulty just chang the aero in the setup menu to 1-1, I'm in my ideal gap now.

Agreed on gap aswell. Keep playing on hard but would like to have little bit faster AI like 2sec not 4sec -,-

Agree with the hard to expert gap. I've restarted career 3 times now. Medium too easy and unrealistic in a Manor, way off the pace in Renault on expert, so started again on hard in a Manor and finished 14th

How does changing aero to 1-1 help?

I drive with those settings on hard. It's exactly the same for me, so I've been driving with self-imposed rules.

I do all the practice sessions on hard (expert I struggle to hit any of the tyre management times even once in 10 laps). Then I do qualifying on expert expecting to be 22nd. For the race I put it back on hard and make myself stay in 22nd until sector 2 of lap 2. It gives the AI the time to get up to speed and start to space out and helps minimise me being 1 to 1.5 seconds faster than optimal for hard. I only allow myself legitimate passes where I'm passing them on the straights and not forcing them to jump out of the way in the corner. Same with defending: if they've got a run on me then that if the situation was reversed I'd consider a valid overtake then I don't go all out to keep them behind me.

It's not perfect and I've only done it up to and including Russia so far, except Bahrain where I put the race to expert too, but it's produced decent races so far where because of the different tyre strategies I've had no real indication of where I'm running until the last few laps (I only play on 100% distance). What would be better though would obviously be a level between hard and expert where all the AI are 1 or 1.5 seconds a lap quicker than on hard, or a level where they're all on expert and run all the time subjected to the "haryanto has a problem, he's going to be slow" race incident.

Or just give us a control where we can up the AI by increments of 1 second, it can't be that hard can it especially now the mechanics for the changes in pace from upgrading the car are in place? Surely it's the same code.

I assume it drops off a lot of grip so you drive slower.
