Do you guys use the Traction assist?

Recommended Posts

I´ve got all the others turned off, but racing without the traction assist´s like driving on ice. Do you have any tipps how to get used to it? And is driving without it faster?

I don't use it. It's an absolute nightmare at first until you get to grips with the throttle sensitivity. I turned up both the throttle and brake deadzones - I think to 30 I settled on - since that needs you to press them in a little bit more to get a reaction and I found it improved my braking without locking up and consequently made it easier to get the steering straightened again for a harder acceleration.

Just be very gentle on throttle and braking. Steering too. In time you'll get it so that you're rarely pushing the steering further than you should so you're not locking it up. If you're gentle on the steering you can accelerate pretty fast out of corners once you get it but be very careful as it can go very badly wrong if you get too greedy with the throttle.

I can't comment on the difference between using no assists and using any, I just went no assists from the off, but I've heard and I really hope no assists gives a faster theoretical lap. My advice is turn everything off and practice practice practice. Expect to spend hour upon hour shooting sideways off the track. Don't bother about your lap times at all, concentrate on being smooth and getting round without incident, and you'll get there.

No assists! Never ever.
Steering, Brake-pedal & throttle linear & no deadzone.

 - Smoothness is the key to success.
 - As I always say to my female boss: If it's Need to be fast, you have to be slow.
 - Slow is precise. And precise is fast.

As Sev77 said, prctice, practice, practice.
Gentle with the steering, more gentle with the right foot, and most gentle with the big toie of the right foot.
Shortshift in first, second and third gear while accelerating out of a Corner. Even in fourth gear you might to shortshift.
Braking is a bit more dependent on the Corner you approaching.
1st Corner @ Bahrain: Slamm the brake-pedal to the Floor, but then release it slowly, turn in, still on the Brakes, till you are a the Apex, 2nd gear. Gentle on the throttle, shortshift up to 4. When the cvar has settled from the curbs, pedal to the metal.
1st Corner @ Chine is completely different. Turn in, then brake, but not that hard as in Bahrain. Turn, turn, turn, brake, brake, brake. This Corner seems to be endless. 3rd gear, gentle accelerate, brake again for the left hander. Apex, gentle on the throttle, shortshift.

As you can see, you did not onle Need top know how to drive and how your car is gonna to react. You also Need to know the tracks.

One last advice: Use the 3D-Ideal line, but only in Corners. This Gadget tells you when to brake, how hard to brake, when to turn in and when to accelerate.

Controlling the car is nightmare without TC in 2016 version, not realistic at all. It seems the same problem is there than was on 2015 version. It sucks because it takes so much away from joy to play this game, would be nice to get some clearance on this matter and I assume it cant be patched. Having a TC in 2016 formula car is lol and even with it, it's somehow wierd to drive, damn.

I play with the wheel and pedals and have experience with AC, Raceroom etc. thousands of hours.

you realize most play without TC. So saying their is a problem and it forces the player to turn it on to play the game isn't true, then stretch that into a patch is needed to allow TC to be turned off isn't anywhere near something that the game needs. For years players begged to not have forced traction control on pad and your here pretending it needs to be patched into the game.

Well, IMHO:
The cars in F1-2016 are much easier to drive than:

 - AC - Ferrari SF15T
 - AC - Ferrari F138
 - AC - Lotus 72
 - AC - Lotus Exos

 - AMS - Formula 1 1976
 - AMS - Formula 1 1979
 - AMS - Formula 1 1988
 - AMS - Formula 1 V10

 - rFactor - Dallara DW12 Indy car
 - rFactor - Marussia Cosworth MR01
 - rFactor - Formula Renault 3.5 2014
 - rFactor - EVE F-1
 - rFactor - Spark F-1
 - rFactor - Brabham Repco BT20

2015? After playing 2015 so long I nearly forgot that there was oversteer in that game but I do remember being like you compaining that it's unrealistic when i was still learning it. My opinion has changed; take some time to learn it.

2016 feels a lot better realistically and just like with 2015, it'll take time to learn it. For me the wheel spin is not a problem anymore if I've practiced on the track I'm racing at.
