why not include trucks? I saw a video of KAMAZ truck chasing Latvala on his POLO WRC then it was very scary and very quick! :3

I would pay double price to have soviet trucks in the game:

Without even watching... spintires.
far from it mate, proper rallying, not some off-road survival. Old schoold soviet trucks- V8 with carburetor, few of them has sequential gearbox, rwd. Can be seen in Baltics States and Russia, i'm not sure if enywhere else. But I'm just dreaming here...

Btw, some one made model  for RBR - http://mokumokumodel.blog.fc2.com/blog-category-41.html

You don't make profit from including DRM.

My DiRT Rallying career has now become competing in a league. One thing I would really like to see is merging my competitive times on specific stages racing in my league to reflect when I'm practicing in "Custom Event". i.e. if I crush a personal best time in competition, I should be able to see it the next time I get on that particular stage in practice. I believe that we would have better representation of World Record times, as just last week while I was racing in Sweden, one of our members crushed the World Record time on Elgsjon by a shade under 2 seconds.  It seems a shame that that magical run has disappeared into the maelstrom of cyberspace garbage.

Other than that, DiRT is better than I could've imagined, so I leave the rest up to the Codies Team

A car with a live axle.
Longer stages, ones that take 1/2 hour to complete if possible.

I personally disagree with you there: calling it "Colin McRae Rally" would be wrong in my opinion. McRae obviously had no input and, to me, using his name would seem like a cheap cash in.

That was a bit of a jump to conclusions there!! lol

I very much doubt they'd call it that, but the game should really be more like something that Colin DID have input into, and why wouldnt they?

DiRT Rally is a really awesome rally sim, in a big empty shell.
It needs a walk-through story and a more personal competitive element for both online and single player.  Racing online against the ENTIRE customer base is only rewarding for around maybe 20 people worldwide & frustrating for the rest.

And 'DiRT'?  Where I come from, dirt is 'Soil'.  Soil has little or nothing to do with Rallying.
The term "DiRT" is so American/Ken Block, which also has absolutely no relevance to the game these days either.

DiRT Rally is more Colin McRae at heart, than Ken Block...  (thank god!!)

I think for once, they built a nice reputation now with DiRT Rally for the DiRT brand.
And second, I think "dirt" is related to rallying, I don't connect it to Ken Block other than through DiRT 2/3

To make some difference to soil:
Soil ("Erde" in german, or "Boden" in an agricultural sence): is the stuff you grow plants on, the stuff you live on, the upper layer of the earth's crust.

Dirt ("Dreck" in german): can include soil, but describes generally stuff that makes clean things dirty. It's the absence of clean. In Rallying dirt is almost always also the soil there, but not in the way of  all the soil, but in the way of the soil that makes your car dirty when you drive over it like a lunatic

What would you recommend then as a replacement? :P
I'll leave that one to the Codemasters marketing department.

I doubt they'll come away from the 'DiRT' brand to be honest, but like I say, it just reminds me of those damn iRacing dirt kart oval boyo's, oh and Mr totally radical Monster Energy Ken Block dude bro also...

DiRT Rally Legends maybe? (if that's in any way related to the theme of the new game at all - lol)

I think from a marketing sense, it would be a bad move to change the main established brand name, I like DiRT Rally Legends though but it sounds like it would only be classic cars sort of thing. The name could be too limiting on the concept if they wanted to include different things

Since you guys gave life to this thread again - I would love to have more severe grip changes in Monte. The current tires grip magically well on both tarmac and snow/ice. If you want to go fast on the tarmac section, prepare to crawl on the icy/snowy sections :)

Definitely, its the same in Rallycross as well where you can be sliding the car sideways and then you kind of come to a stop and not move despite the wheels spinning, is really jarring.

I would like to see an all out tyre war in the next game. Where you recieve offers from different manufacturers. And every manufacturer has their strenghts and weaknesses, For example DMACK could have an advantage on wet gravel but a dissadvantage on dry tarmac. It would be fun to make strategic choices thoughout the championship.

I would also like to see more personality in the  rally locations. An easy saying would be this. "Don't make locations, make Rallies." Give them logos, main sponsors, all that good stuff. It could either be a fantasy rally set on real stages \. Or it could be an actual rally.

Yeah, I fully agree that it'd be difficult to leave the 'DiRT' branding, but the title needs to be more than "DiRT Rally 2", as I think the next game itself needs to be so much more than just "DiRT Rally 2" also, and customers need to get that message from the branding.

Yeah, I agree.  You can feel a difference in the surfaces, but that difference needs to be a lot more pronounced (but still user friendly).

I would love to see an overall reduction of grip for non tarmac for the next one.

tarmac has to be great in the next game.also some of the basics which i think maybe were overlooked in importance or they just didnt have the time / resources to get in the first game. things like matching setups for eg . which is in f1 2016. is a really important thing. also explanations of what changes do what. many still dont know how to set the rally cars up for the best optimal settings. i always thought that should of been done by your crew tbh.

anticheat.sound like broken record has to be ten times better than first game.

racing is really starting to push towards esports now aswell.i think it could be the next big thing in esports.many place racing games many like watching also fps games and other titles genres are sort of catered for racin isnt yet.so something to look at in the future.

the name ? hmmm....Dirt Rally 2 im fine with if it is that. could be Dirt 4. Dirt " insert name " who knows.

Because the McRae name has only ever been attached to games that McRae had some involvement with. Calling a new game "Colin McRae Rally" would, in my personal opinion, cheapen the name: and the game.

The series became "DiRT" when Colin McRae was still around, so you can't blame Block for that. I personally think it was an appropriate re-brand for the series at the time as CM moved to embody the wider world of off-road motorsport rather than solely focusing on stage rally. There were perhaps traces of Americanization in DiRT 1, but DiRT 2 was the title that took that too far (in my personal opinion).

As much as I loved the Colin McRae series, it was on the verge of becoming one of those series that churns out annual sequels with little to differentiate them from previous titles. Although the execution may have been flawed, I can completely understand the logic behind the shift to DiRT. It was reflective of the shifting interest in rally at that time and the change in direction of Colin's career as well.

It's a tricky one. Most of the time I feel the gravel grip is fine. Maybe a small reduction overall, not much at all though. Thing is, the "sideforce" oddity that can be created when taking jumps at extreme angles, if they sort that thing out, there might not be anything grip wise to correct?

Heavy rain in Wales though, I really want less grip in those conditions.

When it comes to Sweden I sometimes feel like there should be a bit more longitudal slip of the tires and the overall grip to be a bit more progressive. You should be able to be more like in a constant slide dancing around corners.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mDDq97tmzk&t=1s

It's should be even more so in the older 4WD cars on snow.
