AM I THE ONLY ONE NOTICING THE AI IS OVER-POWERED ON A WET TRACK?

Recommended Posts

During career mode, I qualify around 10th every race, but when it is wet, I drop towards the back of the grid. The AI appear to be better in the wet than the dry - has anyone else noticed this?

UPDATE - Also, please tell us which assists you are using, as I dont use assists and wonder whether this is the cause of the issue.

Completely the opposite for me, in the dry I'm usually on par with my teammate, but when it rains I'm about 1-2 seconds seconds faster, so my experience is they actually need to be faster in the rain.

May I ask, do you use assists? - I dont use any assists, and I wonder whether this has anything to do with it.

I find the AI is slower in the wet.  I would normally finish 7 or 8th  in the dry using Expert but in the wet, I am in the top three.

I use no assists and the AI are slower then me in the wet compared to the dry. Wouldn't really want to put a time on it though and say how much slower they are as I don't know, but it must just be because we are class in the rain, haha.

AI are extremely slow in the wet for me on ultimate, hell i even won in spa since it was raining in the toro rosso
(No assists, on the pad)
I also won in the rain in the Toro Rosso! Mine was at China. AI need speeding up in the wet.

I went from 3rd to last in Russia on intermediates. That was only on hard AI with medium traction control. They were flying past me on the straights

I'm on expert in career with Renault, no driving aids on. The AI is slower in rain on every track, no matter in practice, quali or race. They are always about 1 - 1.5 seconds slower than they normaly should be. For example, in monaco i was around 10th place in dry in practice sessions, but in wet qualifying i was on pole with Rosberg 0.6 seconds behind me. Also in race in Sochi wich i started in dry conditions and was racing on 14th place. But as it started to rain i was 1.2 seconds faster then the leader and finisched on 4th place after only 7 laps in rain (25% races)

I found them slow too! Using Sauber, I qualified on pole in China! All the three qualifying sessions had plenty of rain: Full wets all the way. Previous best quali for me was 16th. Then, race started on inters and I was able to hold position until the pit stop on lap 6 for drys. After that, AI started walking past me in a hurry, and I could only manage 12th in the end :(

I find them to be just right in the rain and the dry.

As do I for me really I've not played career mode yet but I've had number of both wet and dry races in the championship season I've just finished and they're pretty good and fun to race in both wet and dry  conditions in 2013 and 2014 I thought the AI were overpowered in the wet which is why I often play those games with the Parc Ferme rules off. Whilst I play 2015 with it off that's more down to no weekend weather forecast something that luckily seems to be remedied for 2016. Seeing as the AI are a lot better balanced I feel I can play with Parc Ferme on.

Or your just pulling a Senna and your wicked fast in the rain! :D

The AI are terrible in the rain, and I'm using no assists. They seem to be about 1-1.5 seconds off their dry pace.

Got to say I find the rain much easier I'm only doing hard mode career in a Macca at the moment as I wanted to test the water (pardon the rain related pun)... Anyways yeah in the dry I'm fighting with the Ferrari's or the Mercs for pace but in the wet they are fighting for me not to lap them.. (ok not quite but its night and day). I spent time watching onboard of them in a wet practice and they are sooooo bad at getting the power down, at Sochi for example I take half a second minimum on the exit of the corner to the back straight, same in turn 1.. Tonight I'll go up a level and see if its the same I guess.

It's the exact opposite for me.  In the 3 races I have done in the wet here are the results (all done in a McLaren)

Monaco - 1st
Silverstone - 3rd
Spa - 1st

Now, Monaco makes sense.  It's a track thats more about confidence than speed, and really any decent team could pull something out here.
Silverstone is high downforce, but engine power is also a necessity.  I would have no chance of winning that race in dry conditions, and frankly would be lucky to finish top 5.
Spa, not a chance in hell wet or dry.  By the time I hit Spa I only had two upgrades to the engine and one to drag, certainly not anywhere near enough to catch Mercedes as they just blew me away at Hockenheim the race before, and that was with the same upgrades applied.  Wet or not, I should be nowhere near the front of the field at Spa.

I had a race on ultimate AI with no assists in the rain around China and was in a Manor on a career race and I could keep up with the top cars. I think I lapped around a second off the leading car on 1 lap and I defiantly shouldn't be able to do that in the Manor. Now in the dry the pace is ok, but in the wet I'm fighting the top AI teams which is unrealistic. I wouldn't be going as far as some people are saying 2 seconds a lap are needed for them to be normal, but they defiantly need looked at. Turn your assists off guys and see how some of you get on.

Ai are fine on the wet I manage just fine. F1 2016 is a game where car sets ups actually matter. Keep practicing and trying new set ups.

I think you are right when you say about set ups - I generally run low downforce in quali, as I expect the race to be dry and I run parc ferme rules. It seems I can keep up in a wet race, but am nowhere in quali - like you say it is probably set up.

I just did a career mode race in the Manor and was on the pace with others yet when it got into Intermediate conditions, they were 1-2 seconds faster per lap.

They are slower for me in the wet than in the dry. I qualified P4 in the rain in China where I qualified P21 and P20 in the first 2 races in the dry. And I was catching up to AI cars easily too, so it's not like the times are fake slow or something.

Smoother throttle application, and less brake application, with more rear bias (54% is the sweetspot for me). Sometimes I don't even go full throttle before 6th gear. It feels like you're going slower but in reality you're not any slower than the AI.

I always pray for rain because I know I will beat everyone in the rain. Driving in the rain is not that easy but winning is  B)
