AN IDEA FOR CODEMASTERS

Recommended Posts

I think it would be great if during the winter break, the real life F1 drivers completed a full F1 2016 season on the game - they could drive their own cars and see whether the champion is the same as in real life.

The races would probably have to be shortened to 25 or 50 percent, so it fits into 1 or 2 days.

This would probably never happen, as it would be almost impossible to organise, and I guess some drivers wouldn't want to or wouldn't be free to get involved. However, in an ideal world, would you want to see a virtual championship with real life drivers?

It'd be kinda funny seeing Hamilton and Rosberg destroy each other in game after a stressful season
:) Lets hope Rosberg doesn't accidently turn fuel mix to lean at turn 2 of Spain.

I know :( - I couldn't see any way it would ever work or happen, but in an ideal world, it would be great to see

F1 Drivers are drivers and not computer players...

Yes, but if you have the game set up with steering wheel, racing seat, no assists etc. then it is basically virtual racing - the game is meant to be close to a simulator, so if codemasters have done their job, then it would be just like them driving in real life.

I know, I suppose some aspects are realistic, but overall the game is nowhere near real life - you can brake on the grass and not spin straight off. However, the realistic sections are that the throttle application has to be smooth and you can feel the grip improve as you go faster (increase downforce). But as you say, it isn't close to being as realistic as their sims.

You do realize that F1 pilots are real persons? I think their agenda is already packed so I would feel ashamed to bother them with playing video games. Just for our amusement.

Why would you feel ashamed? - they risk their lives driving F1 cars for our amusement (albeit they also enjoy racing), surely we should be more ashamed about that?

Anyway, I did say this could be in the winter break (when they have time off) - just like the race of champions is in the winter.

As we have said though, it wouldn't happen, I just wanted to get peoples opinions.

It's just the part of them having time off what makes me ashamed to ask them to stop taking time off and start driving for our amusement. I never asked them to risk their lives so why should I be ashamed about that?

@BelgiumDude F1 drivers have the opportunity to travel the world, they are extremely well paid, have a very young retirement age and have approximately 3 months off each year, so no I definitely wouldn't feel ashamed to ask them to take 1 day out of their year to compete in a virtual race. Also, I wouldn't see why any racing driver would not want to have a competitive race (virtual or real). Anyway, this could just be an extension to their F1 schedule (just like in Formula E).

By the way, I wasn't saying you should be ashamed, I was just applying your logic to real F1.

@DiRTKiNG808 Who would you expect to win on equal cars

@Foreverchamps Through out the season it would be a battle between Vettel, Kimi, Massa, Lewis, Button, Fernando, Riccardo and Verstappen.

Oh in that case they can all take a day to clean my house as well if that is the logic we are following

Why? I think I am happy to let them do the real thing, so that we can enjoy simulating them. It's a very different kind of game you know - F1 2016 (video game) vs. the actual Formula One championship.

I got a better idea:
After playing through a f1 2016 game season, some of us should get invited to do a full testing day with a F1 team during the winter break. And Codemasters should take care of a super licence.
