Is there a way to restrict set-ups to default?

Recommended Posts

I dont believe that there is a feature for this, but it would be great if you could have the option to restrict a multiplayer race, so that you can only use standard set-ups. This would stop people gaining a massive advantage by making custom set-ups. Is this possible? If it isn't, would you like to see it as an option?

Thanks everyone

I will never use it myself, as I'm a dedicated driver with custom setups all around.
But I think your idea is great.
The possibility should be there.
Easy to implement.

So you want to punish players for preparing properly? That makes no sense.

It's one thing to restrict a lobby to no-assist users, but this seems unnecessary and not in tune with the sport or the game itself.

I am simply saying that if you have 22 good drivers, who are capable of driving without assists, I feel that it is unfair that a driver can win simply because they have more free time than the other drivers (and therefore more time to create set-ups). I hope you can see my point of view.

Ehh, no, I don't, not really.

Coming up with a decent setup does not take the whole day, also, you can find many setups, for every track, on the internet.
And it is part of the sport and the game. It propably wouldn't hurt to have it as an option, but I do think that custom setups are an integral part of the sport.

@ImDyingYouIdiot - I agree, but one of the things that I have loved with Codemasters' F1 games is that they have tried to make the game accessible to everyone - people can run with assists, without assists, with damage, without damage and so on... I therefore feel that an option for this would just give people that extra level of customisation - some people will want to have the option on, some won't, but I do think we should be given the option.

By the way, if anyone agrees or disagrees with this, I have set up a poll to see whether people think this option should be added - the poll is here: http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/45156/should-we-be-able-to-restrict-to-default-set-ups-online

Would love that option of the whole lobby being restricted to no assists.

There's that word again UNFAIR it's not unfair at all nothing is stopping you from putting in the time to work on a setup, I use the full time available in the 3 practice sessions to refine my setup which is exactly what it's there for so nothing stopping you from doing the same

@Sashy83 - I 100% agree, whichever you use, it will be unfair on someone - you will find it unfair if I set up a session without custom setups. However, I feel that you should be given the option, as it would be nice to race against others on an equal playing field and simply see who is the best driver.

Agree. The setup feature of the game is simple and full of exploits. If the player wants to keep it out of the equation he should be able to.

I remember years ago playing forza in multiplayer. We had several races online with custom setups enabled and it was always the same guys winning by a country mile. It was then changed to default setups only and the guys with the good setups didn't perform so well and the racing was a lot closer and more enjoyable. I would be all for it. It's a purer test of skill and it's good to know it's a level playing field.

Clearly the better driver is the one who refines his setup to further increase their car speed.....

I think that you have mistaken driving with engineering?

No not at all, it still takes a very good driver to get the setup just right

@Sashy83 - I feel that there should at least be an option to disallow custom setups, as some drivers dont have enough time to set up their car correctly and it would be helpful to them. Also, it would stop situations where drivers say, 'you only won because of your setup.'
