Difficulty pace problems!

Recommended Posts

i am on the ps4 using no assists in the mclaren,
i am frustrated at the moment as i am playing on hard but im putting the mclaren on pole and finishing top 5 every race and i am around 1-2 seconds faster in race and quali vs my team mate which is ruining the challenge and realism for me as its far too easy but when i up it to expert im 1-2 seconds behind my team mate struggle on all practice programs to hit delta and qualify at the back of the grid! will the difficulty gaps be patched?

1 to 2 seconds is a small gap though. All it'll take is refining your driving style. A backmarker car with default setup can consistently be brought into the the middle points positions on expert. You won't really begin to need setups for outright pace until legend and then definitely for ultimate.

Practice, practice, practice! You'll get there!

1-2 seconds is not at all a small gap, and it doesn't just take refining a driving style. Everyone reaches a soft cap in skill eventually. @dannyregan9 might be there already and might be unable to ever close that gap. I think that you might also be a good example of this considering you mention that a backmarker car can be brought into the middle points positions on Expert and won't need setups for pace until Legend when the reality is that great driver can easily win the championship in a backmarker car on Expert and doesn't need setups until Ultimate, and maybe not even then.

Looking at this years race times a 1-2 second gap is normal depending on the track. Just need to practice and make small adjustments to the car.

Same problem here...I just drove as Lewis Hamilton 7 qualifying laps in all difficulties in spain. The AI (rosberg) made it to:

very easy: 1:32,023
easy:          1:29,816
medium:   1:27,845
hard:          1:25,817
expert:      1:23,854
legend:     1:21,982
ultimate:  1:21,063

In average I got a 1:22,800...that means I have to find a whole second...In terms of championship mode no problem, I drive as manor in expert or as mercedes in legend...but in career its a "small" problem

Exactly we need a difficulty between Expert and Legend!

No we don't need another difficulty at all
I, as well as many others, have a similar issue. There's a huge 2 second gap that many of us are in between. As they are not implementing a slider system, it would be best to have a difficulty between this. It's not fun when you're either a second too fast or a second too slow.

The career mode is just dead to me. I'll never be able to play it and get any enjoyment out of it unless they patch the huge gulf in difficulty between expert and legend. Such a shame as I think this is the best game Codies have done to date.

I actually deleted mine and now just playing quick races. I will be back in career when they include a difficulty between Expert and Legend because i want to match my teammate and actually struggle to finish in points position in a Renault!

Same problem for me. In a Manor on expert I´m 1 sec fatser than Wehrlein but on legend I´m 1 second slower than him.  Codemasters made such a good game and they really listened to the community it seems like. I hope they´ll do so with this problem as many people have it. Would be a shame if they´d start to ignore us again...

What assists are you guys using? I moved up from expert to legend easily and I have abs, racing line corners only, medium TC and manual gears perhaps turning off some assists may gain you some time, I tried full TC and I lost so much time, it just took way too long to put the power down

I really like the difficulty...in 2015 I always was top 3 in career on legendary (with Red Bull). So starting on 2016 I came to the conclusion that legendary was to hard. So I played on expert...now after getting used to the new driving mechanics and feel I have turned up the difficulty again. It is very challenging and I like it that I am off the pace by 0,5-1.0 sec from p1(in torro Rosso, now 4th performance on grid). I already have a few tracks where I got better then I ever was.
