Thrustmaster TX + F1 Wheel issues when leaving time trial garage

After running a few laps in time trial and entering the pits, my wheel suddenly loses sensitivity/linearity when leaving the garage and starting another run. The settings revert to normal once I encounter some environmental FFB, e.g. hitting a curb. Pausing and resetting controller settings to TX preset also returns the wheel to normal.
