Pit limiter

Recommended Posts

I really struggle with the current system...cant we just have a pit limiter button to assign like we had in f1 2010.
For me its like...brake, oh to slow...back on throttle....ah to fast...back on brakes....and end up with a penalty

Yeah, it's a pity. Unfortunately, the reason they've given before is that there are no spare buttons on console controllers to use as a pit limiter button.

(Which isn't strictly true, as for now at least, you can't access the MFD once you're in the pit lane, so they could use one of the MFD access buttons. But hopefully they're going to make the MFD accessible in the pits again given how useful that would be, at which point, they're out of buttons again.)

The other option, I guess, would be just for the computer to take control as soon as you hit the pit limit speed... then you wouldn't need an extra button. But I can see how that would also be annoying if you hit it too early, and then couldn't speed up again.

Hopefully they can do something about it...this game is, at least for me, really challenging and it's very frustrating ,after a good stint, to end up with a penalty

What about assigning the Drs activation button, Drs isn't available on pit lane so could that be doubled up

I feel like that would be hilarious when it glitched and you activate pit limiter on the straight.

I think if I'm right real formula 1 don't  use pit  button untill after the white line. They also slow down like we have to in game.

They slow down below pit limit speed when entering then put it while braking or after getting below that speed so it locks it at the limiter.

I agree that the DRS button could be used. I'm losing so much time on pit entry at certain tracks.

the game must  take over at the line at the exact point you would push the limiter. What good would a limiter do if the game has to take control before we could use it?

If you have a limiter button that you can use at the instant before getting to the white line, what is the purpose of pit assist off? The only way to simulate manual pit entry is to allow manual throttle past the white line with a limiter and still having to slow to or under pit lane speed before crossing the line? I assume that's what you have to do now? Otherwise they might as well just leave it as it was in F1 2015.

I watch the onboard view of the AI in practice sessions and look for one of them on the in lap. Wait for them to enter the pit lane and see where they are braking to slow down for the white line. Then start at flying lap, enter the pit lane and practice slowing down. You only get a warning in the practice sessions if you're over the speed limit. I haven't had any problems by doing this.

we are not allowed to have control in the pits. The game must take over at the pit line. No licensed game allows player control in the pits. Pit line, you no driving. At the time your in the pits, you can not have control of the car.

Then a limiter really has no purpose. The only advantage under those circumstances is to be able to maintain greater than pit lane speed until the last foot or so before the line, then hit the button. We already had that in an automatic form before, so there really isn't any "manual" in that.

Edit: In other words, I agree with your first post.

I just use the practice sessions to figure out a rough baseline on where to brake.  Admittedly i do find myself ending up about 10 meters short on optimal entry but I prefer this setup.  Last game i played before this was f1 2014 and you could gain a good second on the ai by steaming into the pits because you knew you'd auto slow down.

Same as in previous years' games I suppose -- to give you full control when you cross the pit exit line, rather than controlling you all the way until the blue dotted line runs out so you can't accidentally cross the white line.
