Braking distances in wet weather are the same as in the dry

Recommended Posts

Overall i feel wet weather has improved however the braking distances are pretty much identical to in the dry, even in the heaviest of wet conditions. The braking distances should be much longer, i get the feeling code masters have purposely kept them the same as the average gamers brain would implode if they had to adapt braking points mid race.

F1 brakes are very, very good. You can see in this video of Rosbergs pole lap in the USA last year that he's braking at around 100 to 110 metres in many places aside from the braking zone after the long straight, even in the wet.

Thought the braking distance in the wet in f1 2016 could do with being longer.

I definitely have to change my braking points. At least in changeable conditions. As track temps drop and get wet, you have to start breaking early, or you'll definitely notice more understeer through the corner.

I have to change my reference points. At least at Canada as that's the latest wet race I have had. I had to brake about 30-40m before the bridge before the chicane before the hairpin where as usually I brake under the bridge

In most cases I have to brake earlier in the wet, I'm running no assists so I lock my brakes if I brake at the same place as I would in dry. I can't press the brakes as hard so you have to let the aero slow the car down as well. That's what works for me anyway and I'm smashing the AI in the wet, they're too slow.

Braking distances are longer in the wet, but let me guess- OP is using assists like ABS.  But agree AI are too slow in the wet.

No I'm using a CSWv2 and HE Sim Pedals with no assists, I'm not expecting pure sim like iRacing etc but i feel the braking distances in extreme wet weather should be longer. Braking should generally be much trickier in wet as it's hard to lock up at the moment whereas in real life it's very easy to lock up in extreme wet conditions.

Getting on the power out of a corner is done quite well (given wet weather is basically near impossible to simulate properly) but braking just isn't as hard as it should be in these conditions.... I'm never cautious on the brake in wet as there is no need to be, i want to be forced to be cautious !

I understand they have to find a balance between realism and fun though.

You are braking too early in the dry ;)

I definitely break 20-40m earlier when it gets wet, otherwise i just understeer way too much on entry.
