AI difficulty differences per circuit

Recommended Posts

I thought it might be useful if we could come up with a list of the AI speed per circuit as unfortunately (as with previous F1 titles) the AI speed varies between tracks making some too easy and others too hard.  I've only done 4 races so far but found:

Australia:  AI insanely quick, team mate at least 1.5 sec a lap faster. (although I partly put this down to getting use to the game)
Bahrain: AI slow, team mate about 1 second too slow
China: AI slow, team about about .7 seconds too slow
Sochi: AI about right.

Obviously this will vary between people but would be interesting to see if there was a consensus here on which tracks the AI are fast on and which slow so people can perhaps adjust the difficulty in advance.

Sochi is slow - slower than China I'd say.

This will be very subjective though, as it it also depends how good/bad you are at tracks. Like Silverstone the AI might be slow, but I always struggle at Silverstone on all F1 games, all the way back to the GPx series.

At Barcelona they are insanely fast.

Also, I've found out that at Baku, they have extreme grip while doing the remarkable curve of the circuit.

(Legend difficulty, I'm leading the championship with the McLaren)

If the AI has been made slow because Codemasters see certain tracks as being easier or harder, then it seems to be the total opposite for me. I am quick at Bahrain, always have been, but the AI are slow. I want them quicker for there, not Australia, a track I'm slow on...

Are they actually slow at Monaco? I thought they were quite fast there.. Maybe I have to work on my setup.

Monaco is renowned over all the past games as having particularly slow AI, it is fairly easy to get a top 5 in a Manor on ultimate.

I found at Spain and Abu Dhabi  AI is quicker.
AI also has some good and bad sectors, for example- dramatically slowеr at S2 Brazil.

I've found them Ok but, as seems reasonable, they are not aggressive when trying to overtake. On legend difficulty, I started fifth with the McLaren (Alonso 4th, 0.1 gap) and won.

It was an awesome race but the AI destroyed the tyres and they had to pit in the last 3-5 laps.

We finally ended P1 and P2 very close :)

I've found the Ai to be too slow at certain corners on certain tracks. For example turn 1 at China and turn 8 st Spa the AI are extremely slow.

Of course Monaco is a track where experience really is the key. At first all the bumps may seem difficult, but after 6 years they feel like part of the track like kerbs and barriers...

Might be down to setup for Singapore, I've always found the AI to be slow there on all the games on legend AI. Or maybe it's just one of my best tracks, who knows.

I just completed Barcelona and found the AI spot on for me.  Barcelona very technical track and tiny mistakes can lose you a lot of time, sector 3 especially easy to lose time but I found if I drive a good lap the AI strength is matched well.  Onto Monaco

here are my Ultimate AI results compared to my team-mate so far, I'm driving the McLaren vs Alonso. Default setup so we are driving the same car.

Australia - 0.1 behind Alonso
Bahrain - 1.5s ahead
China - 1.2s ahead
Russia - 0.1 behind(this may have been a terrible lap, I can't remember)
Spain -  0.6 ahead
Monaco - I crashed out
Canada - Don't have results saved for this one. I got into Q3 and Alonso did not.
Baku - 0.5 behind
Austria - 1.4s ahead(wet)
Silverstone - 0.7 ahead
Hungary - 0.3 ahead
Germany - 0.4 ahead
Spa - 0.5 ahead
Monza -  0.1 behind
Singapore - Alonso didn't set a lap in Q2. We were close in the race.
Malaysia - 0.4 ahead
Japan - 0.3 ahead

Bahrain, China and Austria definitely need huge improvements to the ai speed. I finished 2nd in China and won in Austria(race was dry) with a fairly bad McLaren at that stage. The ai seem to be really bad in sector 1+2 of China and sector 2 of Austria. At Bahrain they are slow around the whole lap. All of the other tracks so far seem okay apart from Baku where I found it impossible to get close to the ai. I qualified 18th in the end which was my worst position all season.

On Expert without assists and T300 wheel I really had good races in Australia, Bahrain, China and Russia.. And I only had 2-3 of the first R&D installed. I'm in the Renault 1st driver and was very close to a win in Russia. Q3 - 2nd place and my race was destroyed by SCar. I immediately went into pits during SC and approx. 10 AI cars passed me because my crew didn't release me from pit stop. Even so I managed to classify 5th position which I think is great for race number four and only a few R&D updates.
But then came Barcelona. I did try every setup possible. Low wings, more wings..... I can keep the needed Qualifying time until I reach the last sector. There I loose everything and finally I classified 17 th position in Q3 while Magnussen finished on 12th.
The AI is so perfect on this track while I am struggeling with the last sector. They have so much more traction out of the slow corners. I am already very sensitive on the throttle.....
I can confirm that there is a massive difference in AI speed if I compare previous race in Russia with Barcelona. As I said. Russia I was fighting for win and Barcelona I don't even get into Q2 and lose 0,5 seconds on Magnussen.
