Repost of my video from the other thread.

And there is Hairpin run from Dirt 2 at the 5:40 mark.

I will be doing tons more dirt 2 videos so I will post them up. Dirt 2 is so much fun on my rig, I have 8 audio transducers (Buttkicker bass shakers) on my rig which is running through a program called Simvibe which takes the telemetry data from the game and translates it in to vibration so you can feel every stone and bump. It will be totally next level when my motion setup arrives.

Thanks. I just did a quick add up of everything on my rig and you really don't want to know :) Somewhere just north of $15,000 USD all up.

Anyway, here is another video on my horribly expensive rig.

Hello,

Over the years I've uploaded Dirt 2 and 3 to my Youtube account. They're all rather mediocre...

DiRT playlist

There are videos from Dirt 3 Battersea event, some quick YT uploads and recordings from some league racing.
Maybe in the future when the next game is out it will be much easier to upload good quality footage to YT or other sites.

Once @justbiglee sets up the DRC I'll try to record some footage off-screen

Hey guys. I went and found one of my old hard drives with Colin Mcrae Rally 2 on it.

I couldn't get it to run on my main PC but I could get it running on my Windows 7 laptop.

Any one want to see some videos from CMR2? I could even try to get my old Logitech G27 wheel working with it.

I had a blast on finland. It brought back so many memories, I still remember the track but I was way off my old pace.

Well that was a bit of a fail.

I got my G27 working with CMR2.

Had a massive mission getting OBS to record CMR2 because it is so old and they only support modern DirectX games.

Finally found a Direct3D/Directdraw plug in which worked.

Did the whole of Rally Finland, 10 Stages, just over 22 minutes. Took me just on an hour to record it all with replays etc. I did it in 1 take with no crashes, didn't even practice the stages, just relied on my memory for 10+ years ago. I was pretty happy with the rally.

Went to check the recording and it had massive dropouts so it was pretty much unusable. OBS didn't drop any frames and the sound was sweet but the video would just pause, sometimes for minutes. Not sure if there is much I can do to make it better. I will keep trying.

But anyway. It was really fun and the real thing I liked about it was the damage and failure states. Games back in the day used to be a lot harder in terms of letting you fail and the consequences of failure, in CMR2 you can't restart a race, if you crash you need to restart the whole rally or keep going. Damage stacks up and you only have a very limited time to repair in the service center after each 2nd stage. This means if you crash out on the last stage you need to do the whole rally again from the start. That is what I found the most exciting was the risk of damaging my car and having to start all over again. I found it to be way more stressful and tense than modern dirt games because of that risk factor.

Bioshock Infinite did this with their 1999 mode, I used to play System Shock 2 (which is what 1999 mode was named after) and it was brutally hard. Maybe that would be a cool feature to add to the new dirt if you add multi stage rallies.

Update: I got DXtory to capture it fine so I will record a video and post it here.

Thinking of doing the old CMR04 and CMR2005 also again!

Hi guys.

Here is a video from Colin McRae Rally 2. It is of the entire Rally of Finland. 10 stages. I finished in about 23 minutes. I kept the replays and service areas in there, it you go to you tube I have included timestamps to skip to the beginning of any of the stages.

I couldn't get CMR2 going on my mega rig so I had to make do with my old Logitech G27 on my laptop. It sort of felt fitting because it felt like I was going back in time using the G27.
