That would be really cool. It would be good to show everyone what sort of hardware you can run with the Codies games.I can't wait until Grid Auto Sport comes out because it will be great to do some open wheel racing on my rig. I have asked both SimXperience (The makers of my GS-4 seat and Transducer software) and SymProjects (The makers of my gauge controllers) and they both said they will be buying copies of Grid Auto Sport when it is released so they can add support for all my gear.I will be doing some You Tube videos of GAS running on my rig when everything is all supported. Let me know if you want any more photos or info for the blog.
gfRally
I am really hoping that with the next gen Codie's games, there will be more telemetry data advalible. One thing I would really like in a rally game is stage timing. I have a sorta-replica terra trip box that is waiting to be plugged into my setup, it just needs data. The sim nut job that I am, I like to have all gauges external and only the monitor for the vehicle window. I actually like the way Grid Autosport has the interiors blured out. Sorry guys, don't mean to derail the topic.
Avenga76
You could easily get a Terra Trip running. I was actually thinking of adding one to my rig.The Codies games do output speed, RPM, gear, throttle %, brake %, clutch %, current lap, last lap and best lap telemetry but that is about it other than the motion data. You would use the speed telemetry for the Terra Trip just like in a real car. I don't know of any games that output distance data, usually you would just calculate that off the speed.I use a SymProjects Pro-Gauge and Rev-Burner to run all my gauges. You could get a Rev-Burner, set it as a speedometer driver and then plug it in to the Terra Trip and it should work fine. I use the trip meter on my speedo quite a bit for longer stages in rFactor like Transfagarasan (23.6km) and Targa Florio (72km!!!). In DiRT 3 it is a bit out because of wheel spin and jumps etc but that is what happens in a real rally car and a Terra Trip can be setup with workarounds for this. What I would like to see in terms of Telemetry is Oil temperature, water temperatures, Oil pressure, Fuel pressure and fuel level. That way I can use all my gauges. Other games like rFactor, iRacing and Euro Truck Simulator support all my gauges so it would be nice if Codies added that telemetry but I understand it is a niche market so I don't expect increased telemetry support. As you can see from my rig I am the same and I like to completely remove the HUD from the game and have all my gauges external on my rig and use my Siminstruments dash for timing data, position and shift lights. If you check out any of my DiRT videos you can see all my gauges in action (like the one at the top of this page), I also have some other videos on my youtube channel of the rest of the gauges working in other games. This is sort of the POV I see when I am racing. I sit a bit lower than that but my camera isn't wide angle enough so I had to sit the camera on top of the seat. When I drive the shift lights in the middle are about in line with the bottom of the screen.

When I drive the shift lights in the middle are about in line with the bottom of the screen.I think you may have misread my post about the terra trip (no big deal) but I have built a box that "resembles" a terra trip with some symprojects led readouts. BUT that is an interesting idea about taking from the speedo, could you an adrino board for a middle man for the readout. But for me I would just like to see the timing and position split/time that DiRT3 outputs to the hud (when turned on), unless you know a workaround for that. Its not exactly true to real life, but it would be nice to have the data available.BTW: what size screens?
Avenga76
My triple screens are 27" and the one on top is a 24"Sweet. I see what you mean now. That is actually very similar to my latest project (Yes I know I have it bad). I am using 2 Symprojects Simscreens to display data like that.I only got them this week but one of the profiles I want to design is a rally timing mode. The cool thing about these screens is that you can design your own display readouts. Codies games do output current lap, best lap and current lap times so I will make a display showing all of those. It can also show the current lap number but not position, that would be nice to add.I can share some of my designs when I make them. I plan to make one for Grid Auto Sport and another DiRT 3 one. My screens have buttons on them so I can cycle through the displays on the fly.If you did want to use a real Terra Trip then the Symprojects Rev-Burner would just plug straight in to it, you wouldn't need an Adrino board.I haven't had time to design my own layout but here is a quick photo of some of the layouts off the Symprojects website. You can see my timing info on the right hand part of the center display but I will also set up one of the side displays as a timing display. gfRally
yep, got one of those too! :D right now it is going in center of dash for speedo and whatever else. I'll post some pix soon. DiRT doesn't really output much as far as position lap etc, maybe I'm using wrong data, at least as far as I've messed with it.
Avenga76
Try using this.It is a spreadsheet from SymProjects listing what every game does and does not support.https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuUfvT6L0AhNdHBnODZuWkRIdWhWQjRtUHBYMHN6dmc&hl=en#gid=0I know Codies games don't do position but they will tell you what lap you are on and lap timings. Of cause the best, last lap or lap number won't work in rally because you don't do laps but it will show the current stage time. I use the stage time a lot so I can see how well I am going. gfRally
Here is an old one. 2013 100 Acre Woods. Sorry, I may come back and re-edit this one, too many transitions. This is the problem in REAL LIFE you only have 1 camera angle to work with so you just have to use what you got.http://vimeo.com/64460862Hope no one minds using DiRT music, in the video. justbiglee
I'd love to go a Rally America event they always seem to have a really good atmosphere to them
gfRally
We'll, being that I have only been to US events I wouldn't know how to compare. It takes a very special person h,ere in the US to see a event. Not that you need invited, but in the land of couch potatoes where if it doesn't take place in a arena (Motorsports included) the general populous doesn't like it. So yes the atmosphere is great, kind of like a club.
