G25 strangeness

Having an issue getting my G25 to maintain a consistent setting. Got profiler set to 100/0/0, centering spring unchecked and lock set to 270 degrees. I go into game and steering angle required is massive, so I increase saturation to 30 ish, and all is well. However, next time I go into game, steering is now hugely twitchy, so I have to turn down saturation to 0 and even reduce linearity, and again, all is well, until I restart gamr and it all starts again.

profiler / driver was updated a few days ago. Not had this issue in F1 2013.

Any ideas what my issue may be?

other than this, loving this game.
