Patch 1.03 - Why did you change the handling?

Recommended Posts

Just an update: this is being investigated. Are the differences in handling something that's present when playing multiplayer, single player, or both?
Its way too easy after 1.03 patch. Its so easy to drift through the corners without losing much time.I'll say that the handling is now more like a arcadey, but it was before the patch more like a simcade
Are you finding this occurs more in single player, multiplayer or both, @F1randokalbus22?
It occurs in Multiplayer, single player and in TT,so it Feels like you have made New ,easy handling model

I'm starting to find a difference in the handling too, might just be me but it certainly seems so. It does feel more arcadey.

I really appreciate the fact that you're looking into it and I understand it's very difficult to understand what's going on. I play only offline

It sounds scary if developer doesn't know they've changed the handling...

other things effect how the car drives/behaves.

After the 1.04 patch my handling has gone back to the way it was and my ffb strength has returned to normal (g29), I don't know if it's coincidence that it felt different after 1.03 but now after 1.04 my wheel and the handling model feels great again just like it use to be.

@jennyannem I have only played TT and offline, but its exactly the same as what it was from day 1.
AMEN.

People are hearing some vague rumours and they all go apesh*t on it.

@jennyannem Please do not give this so much attention. I think its better to keep the focus on the real bugs. Then to waste energy on this fantasy bug.

With something as fundamental as handling, we have to take this seriously. We've spent a few days investigating this, but we can't see the issue here. We've compared the values of the grip and car telemetry between the current and previous patch versions and can't see any difference. We've also had our handling team play both builds side-by-side and they feel the same and produce the same lap times. That's not to say that the reports of changed handling are wrong, but merely that we can't see the issue here in the tests that we have done. The only change that we are aware of that might affect handling is a reduction to the wear rate of marbles, but this wouldn't account for the differences being reported here.

If you could report the following information to help us out that would be much appreciated:

  • What game modes are you seeing this change in?
  • What session are you seeing this change in (and is it the same across all sessions)?
  • What car are you driving?
  • What assist settings are you using?
  • What type of controller are you using?
  • Have you adjusted your car setup at all?

I see absolutely no difference in the handling. Went out to practise as Russia and exactly the same as FP1&2 previous

guy,you don't know if other platforms are having this issue. You know whats going on in your game with your settings with your gameplay. You don't know every game every platform, played with other settings combinations.

It definitely has changed. TC is present even when switched off. I use the DS4 on the PS4 without any driving aids using cockpit view.
TC has always been present for pad users regardless of settings. We brought it up a lot during the beta while testing the handling model.

I havnt played the patch yet so I don't know if its changed but as much as I have drove without traction controll in this game. I would argue that in no way did the pad have any noticeable traction controll on it BEFORE the patch. I could wheel spin up to 4th gear and second gear is almost useable on slow corner exit requiring 3rd gear used on hair pins.

It's a lot more subtle when using no assists, but it's there nonetheless. I can't say whether it got changed in the patches because I generally use a wheel, but it has definitely always been there.

what part of 3rd gear wheel spin into 4th (harder tire), Softer tire doesn't take it all the way to 4th and 3rd gear hairpins is giving you the impression their was any noticeable traction controll? If the wheels are spinning up and immediately pegging the revs then they are spinning up and pegging the revs from nothing stopping it

Codemasters what have you done ?
The handling before patch 1.3 was perfect.  Now it's a bad joke. The traction is so heavy. I can give full throttle and the car drive very stable.

I cant understand that.  You make a good handling model and than you destroy it.

Way to go from 0 to douchebag in one post.
a douchebag would have said something sounding smartass like what part of that are you have trouble with. Not what was "giving you that impression". "Giving you that impression" of traction controll is someone looking for answers like the car having high fuel weight, or softer tires, or the track got rubbered in, or maybe you just have a better setup.
