Patch 1.03 - Why did you change the handling?

Recommended Posts

I think this also should be in this thread.....

First of all, the following Lap is not the cleanest or fastest lap and it shouldn't be that. This lap is just to explain the differneces i feel on the handling and the kerbs! Unfortunately i didn't recorded a Lap on Build 1.2.0  -.-

The biggest difference for me is in Australia:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5NiTlkLIQQ&feature=youtu.be

Racing on Pad same Setup on both Builds!

Turn 1 and 2:
1.2.0: If i was going on the throttle like this i got massive oversteer and it was challenging to hold the car on track!
1.3.0: I can go nearly full throttle and car is complete stable without any wheelspin  out of the corner

Turn 4:
1.2.0: Full throttle in the 4th gear on the same point and the wall on the left side was mine
1.3.0: Also in this corner i can go a lot more early full throttle and car is complete stable without any wheelspin

Turn 5:
1,2.0: The Kerb on the outside has affected the car and made it unstable
1.3.0: The Kerb feels like the track

Turn 6 and 7:
1.2.0: It was a bit difficult to accelerate out of the chicane cause the car started easily to oversteer
1.3.0: Full throttle nothing happened

Turn 9 and 10:
1.2.0: Nearly the same as in Turn 6 and 7 and i definitely can't accelerate with full throttle
1.3.0: In this corner it feels like the traction control is turned on and i don't get the full control off the car but i can accelerate with full throttle

Turn 12: And the biggest change for me!
1.2.0: I was going full throttle and got full traction without hitting the kerb to much! To much kerb and the car began to spin!
1.3.0: I can drive with full throttle ON THE GRASS and the car didn`t get affected anyway!

Turn 13,14,15,
1.3.0: Feels like i can go on full throttle a lot earlier and the car is much more stable as on 1.2.0

Turn 16:
1.2.0: This corner was really difficult on 1.2.0 A little bit to early on the throttle and the wall was yours! Also if you hitted the kerb on the left side with full throttle the wall was yours!
1.3.0: No problems to accelerate nearly with full throttle! I go full throttle over the kerb and nothing is happen. Feels like a part of the track!

I hope this is halfway understandable, cause my english is not the best. Hopefully this helps to sort out the problem!

The handling has definitely changed. I've deleted the game and am now playing the disk version minus patches offline. And this after praising Codemasters for moving closer to sim, which is something I've been patiently waiting for since f1 2010.

I really hope the change in handling happened accidentally and will be rectified in the next patch, otherwise I will be very dissapointed that something which is the heart and soul of a racing game has been watered down, presumably to pander to those who are either too incompetent or too lazy to master-- and despite having a plethora of assists to play with.

I agree 100% with you. That is what I think and the worst part is that the Codemasters don't know that they have changed the handling

I'd like to uninstall and reinstall the game without downloading the patch to check if something has really changed, but I don't want to lose all my progress in career. Any suggestions?
Go ahead, deleting the game won't delete your save data.

I suspect that they wanted to make the handling easier for pad players who play with assists and it inadvertantly propagated to all situations regardless of input device or assist preferences.

Just to let you know we are still looking into this and are investigating a couple of other possibilities. The fact that it is not being consistently reported is making it difficult to track down, but there has been some useful information added to the thread already. Please continue to add any observations if you are able, including the details on platforms, controllers, assist and setups.

PS4,Ps4 controller,No assists,it doesn't matter what setup you are using to feel it.That handling is just unenjoyable

Xbox, wheel, no assists.

I played for a few hours across every game mode last night. The first thing I notice was that the curbing was like 2015. Curbs I couldn't even touch were now rideable. TC off affected me a lot less. It's much harder to lose the car. The whole handling felt almost exactly like 2015 aside from some differences.

My lap times stayed the same. The more laps I did, the more I noticed the changes from pre and post patch. The handling isn't remotely as difficult as pre patch. Before the patch I had to be more aware of my throttle input but now I don't even have to try.

xbox - tx wheel - no assists - only difference was the feeling of more traction (easier to use) in time trial mode, elsewhere feels similar to the same...

Have had some more time sine the patch, I'm not noticing any big differences but I definitely haven't done as many laps as some of the other posters.

I still can lose it on kerbs if I rev out and I still lose the rear end often if I am a bit heavy on the right foot. Will try some more tracks and see, but with no way to flip back or forward between what we have now and what we had previously, its really hard to prove this one way or another.

Would it not be possible to enable the Beta with 1.2 (ON XBOX ANYWAYS) handling model so that we could test versus the game as it is now? At least we would have quick race to compare - I guess it would be difficult to confirm either way in career as people will have different developments made to their team in career so maybe will have added more Downforce, upgraded engine etc etc

Ps4 thrustmaster t300. No assists. All game modes. Default and custom setups. Handling changed for me with patch 1.03.

The best way I can describe it is the refinement has gone, you can just plant the throttle out of corners now without having to worry about it. Kerbs and astro turf are not as unsettling on the car anymore either. You had to feather the throttle putting power down, now you don't. When the car breaks traction now it's like a pendulum effect at the rear.
This handling issue also has had an effect on my FFB it hasn't felt the same as launch since 1.03. I've tried tweaking the FFB settings but still can't get the same feel as launch.
The handling of the beta and launch version was the best we've had from you CM hope you can find the issue and resolve it.

Xbox one,
Only assist is medium traction,
Every game mode
Same set ups as pre patch across different cars, traction has more than doubled, able to gain 3/4 tenths a lap since patch massive difference in the feeling of the car, barely have to control throttle now.
