Controller plebs - why so little modulation??

Recommended Posts

All,
unfortunately I pleb it up like many and use the controller for "16, maybe in future will look at a wheel/pedal setup but for now it's good enough for my gaming.

Problem I've found is there is hardly any modulation on the throttle & brake, with a bit of finesse it is possible to play abs off and traction on medium, without this is impossible. Best I can get is 3/4 but then to full is a bees dick.

The controller in game settings do nothing to help, be nice if you could calibrate the triggers to have full modulation, CODEMASTERS can you get this in a future patch?

Standard ps4 controller.

Ive played through from 2013 so familiar with the game, assists off I can't get the thing to accelerate without frying the rears, braking same big lock ups.

This is the only driving game I have had to use assists on, not a #humblebrag just pointing it out

I'm on a xbox one controller...Several things could be magnifying your imput issues. Race length, first the car has a wide swing in handleing because of fuel weight. The less fuel, the harder it is to put the power down smooth because the car is more reactive and sensitive from being so lite. What that means is if you running really short races like at 25 percent then the car is going to be extra lite on fuel and extra sensitive to imputs. Even 50 percent races is still of half the fuel that's meant to be in the car. Next believe it or not is you must have your lineraty steering setting correct. You cant have a jerky car with no traction control. Having that right will make everything a lot smoother. It will allways want to turn and throw the rear around. About 70 to 75 but you can go higher if you do a couple of tricks with car set up to take away that slight deadzone that comes in the higher you go.

Try opening up the diff and adjusting brake balance amd pressure. Adjusting the differential made a big improvement for me when turning down the traction control.

I cant modulate the throttle at all too. If I apply a little bit of pressure to the throttle, car barely moves. I apply more pressure and the throttle goes to the max

check the meter in the controls option page and make sure its behaving correctly. You know the page that has the line filling up as you use the trigger.

I have the same problem. On some corners I can feed it in, but not well enough. I tend to just shred the tyres!

I tried pulsing the throttle like I do on Project Cars, but that doesn't make much of a difference.

I play with pad on PS4.  I'm not very good and have no problem modulating the gas at the starts.  Are you using the right trigger for gas?  Can you see the amount of throttle on the graphic on the right?

Go into time trial and stop the car on track and put it in neutral.  Practice the modulation and watch the graphic on the right to try and get a partial green line.

I don't know, I just got use to it but I'm on a xbox controller and don't really know how a playstation controller fills. To me it sounds like you have the steering linearity on 0 and its making every thing else really sensitive because the car is allway wanting to turn with the slightest movement and its not letting yo me smooth with throttle and brake.

No probs here what pad/system you using?

I run no assists (allegedly - keep hearing about hidden stuff).

I've been heard about this as well. I suspect it wheel users sounding butthurt about pads and wheels being equal instead of having an advantage

I cant do any saturation. To me it feels like it makes it to fast and sensitive
