What happens when you max out the upgrades?

Recommended Posts

I have only made it to Suzuka on S1 and I already have >50% of the upgrades. I've seen on Tiametmarduks channel that they don't reset after each season, so what happens when I get to the point sometime in season 2 where I'm fully upgraded?????
What's the point in having 10 seasons if R&D can be completed after less than 2?!
If every team can only do the 25 upgrades, surely the later seasons will just be the same relative car performance as S1, but everyone is a few seconds quicker.
I think it wouldve made more sense (and been more realistic) if the upgrades reset after each season. The progression tree seem balanced for that approach rather than the one we have currently.

Nothing. By the end of the career the performance order is the same as when you started your career, most likely it'll happen sooner than season 10. There's really not a huge point in career after 3 seasons. Personally I just keep track of my career stats on my computer and restart career everytime I want to switch teams. It also allows me to change my helmet.

Nothing and codemasters doesnt give a fuck.

10 season career mode my ass. Its a 2/3 season career mode which you can extend to 10 seasons.

Ita so easy to fix but like I said.... Codemasters really dont give a shit. They fucked up the whole idea of career with this.

I think that currently R&D progress is just way too quick. In real life research takes time and teams spend months trying to come up with an improved part. Also the grid doesn't mix every few races. Currently you can upgrade a weak car to top 3 at some point of the season and fall to bottom 3 by the time the season is over. It's a little absurd and also after 2 seasons you have nothing else to research. I guess starting a career over is a solution for now, but I'd like to see R&D slowed down a lot so I have to work more to get an upgrade and see it make a difference for a while. Being able to upgrade 4-5 elements per season would give us 5-6 seasons of meaningful research.

They must think we are idiots. Well it was already proved with the steelbook and booster dlc, must be sitting back having a right laugh at us all.

Which makes R&D pointless?

The idea is a good one, but it was poorly executed. There should be the option to choose three, five, seven or ten seasons and the R&D is scaled to match each.

I have the difficulty settings set right to my pace, iam racing Alonso on raceday on track and also in qualy we match eachothers times.
I do the r&d programs without on screen info, and then i pass them or not, 1 try and thats it.
this way i dont get all the resource points and it takes me longer, but still it goes a bit too fast.
i ceasy me r &d points when iam able to, so at the start of season 4 my mclaren is maxed out.
iam at spa in season 2 now.

Thats really the only thing that need to change to keep career interesting without restarting career after 3/4 seasons if you dont upgrade to much.

also i dont want to restart, i want to play the whole career, cause of stats and the feeling you lose with your career when you have to restart.

Hope codemasters change this in a new patch. Upgrades should reset every season otherwise what's the point ?

Yeah upgrades should reset every season and the performance chart should change according to last season's constructor standings or something...otherwise it is just going to feel as if we replay season 1 the whole time

Hmm something must be reset after season 2 or something right?
When i get my manor fully upgraded im still down on Ferrari on R&D/car comparison.. guess at some point i'm able to get past them?

Was surprised that R&D was so quick, I was expecting that level 1 upgrades take 1 race to implement, level 2 3 races, level 3 5 races and so on. After the maylasian Grand Prix a R&D tab for next season should open, you can then decide to keep upgrading this years car or next, or a bit of both. That fact that when you save points at end of season you can't get the upgrades till Bahrain is ridiculous, like you start the first race of next season in the old car.
The AI upgrade pretty slowly so you can of course impose your own restrictions to slow down the progress but that's not really the point.
something to think about for 2017 I guess, I sometimes wonder whether delevopers think 'if we smash it out the park now maybe people won't feel need to get 2017 edition', let's hold back a bit

I think they wanted to cater for fans that didn't want to do 10 seasons more than the ones that did. Maybe there should be an option before you start career? I think the idea was the R and D will stop by S3 and then if you want to carry on you can accept another team offer and go there?!

So if you leave a team and they get to keep their upgrades, you could in theory return to the team after half a season (if you get an offer from them) and pretty much pick up performance wise where you left off, but with a chance upgrade the car from scratch again?

No, if all cars were fully upgraded, the R & D would be like at the beggining of Season 1, Mercedes - Ferrari - Red Bull - Williams - Sahara - Toro Rosso - McLaren - Haas - Renault - Sauber - Manor.
I don't like that. It should change, for example, reseting R & D and making cars better or worse for their Constructor Standings position, or something like that.

On season 2 do you keep your Season one upgrades or do you reset to the original R&D rankings?
You keep the upgrades.

But, it's not so good, because you can't get Manor to be the top team for ever, maybe in Season 3/4 it would be the worst car again, and it shouldn't be like that, because the cars aren't always the same, for example, McLaren was the best team in 2010 and now it's not so good.

I think there should be a lot more upgrades but they should also make less impact on the car. I thought that you would be sent to another development page when you had upgraded the car fully but nope there is just 20 things you can improve on and then that's it.

The problem is it is too easy to earn points. Besides we need they make the updates more expensive

The system is fundamentally flawed in my opinion and I can't see them fixing career mode.

Trading it in for NBA 2k17 this week, will start praying that they actually drop the laziness and put some effort into career mode next year.
