Assist vs no assist

Recommended Posts

hello this video was made to show that contrary to what it may seem you are driving faster without aid than with the aid. You see in the video player is faster than about 8/10 of a second on the lap...of course it is much more easy to go wrong ...

This is total rubbish.

One only needs to look at the leaderboards to see which one is faster. At least on PS4 the evidence is conclusive to say the least.

Currently there are five tracks on which the fastest time has been recorded without assists. I have listed them here with the gap to the fastest assist-driver:

DRY WEATHER

Canada 0.1s
Austria 0.05s
Japan 0.25s
USA 0.07s
Mexico 0.13s

On all other tracks the fastest times are with assists enabled and the difference is generally much larger to the fastest non-assist driver than visa versa on the list above. The worst example is Italy, where the fastest time with assists is OVER THREE SECONDS FASTER. Such a large margin does not come out on other tracks, but you can find examples of gaps of around a second on other tracks too. This is rather infuriating for no-assist drivers like me.

On wet weather the only track that currently holds a fastest lap time with assists disabled is Silverstone, with a gap of 0.1s to the closest assist driver. Again, the worst is Monza, where the gap from fastest assist driver to non-assist driver is a rather ridiculous 4.1 seconds.

CM needs to nerf down the advantage that you get from driving with assists. I mean, these are functions that don't even exist on the real cars. It's like giving a no-assist driver a 1500BHP engine and an active suspension system. The problems is not only on TT leaderboards (this could be solved with separate leaderboards), it comes out in races as well in various ways and makes it a real pain the butt to drive any random lobbies. The thing is that when some wannabe-verstappen steers into you on purpose when you are overtaking him, the chance of you spinning off and him moving along in a straight line is 100% if he is using traction control, which he is of course. In fact, many are so lowlife that they do it under the SC when they see you are not using TC and can't drive away from them. I like this game a lot, but this is something that absolutely kills the multiplayer experience outside of league racing.

Now, I know many are thinking: "Just create your own lobby with assists off!". Yes, I've done it a lot. The thing is, almost everyone is using assists because they are so OP, that they don't even bother to check whether they are on or off when joining a lobby. So, you get a nice full lobby of 20 people, and the qualifying begins. About 2 minutes later, 10-15 cars have spun off in the first two corners and most people quit. Then, if you are lucky, you are left with 1 or 2 people who actually know what they are doing, and a couple of lowlifes who want to take revenge for the host; they stay on the track in some low speed corner and crash into you when you try to overtake them. Some even go so far that doing it in qualification isn't enough, they start the race and do it there, too. As there is no way to kick a player when a session has started, all you can do is quit yourself and go play TT, which is dominated by assist drivers. Yay!

Ok I take note of this and agree to put penalties on those who use assists in game.

No they don't , they need to seperate the leaderboards
I could live with that. Although I still think a 3 second advantage like at Monza is completely out of the line. The difference is similar to comparing an F1 car and a GP2 car.

This 3 seconds gap is achieved with speed hack. Just set this guy as a ghost and you will assure. I've even tried as ghosts some of the "TOP" drivers on several circuits and most of them use some kind of grip or speed hack or some exploits like cutting/extending  the track.

I also drive using no assists and I think it's a lot more fun and challenging to play the game. It's just more rewarding to play that way.

having said that, I get that some ppl need assists to enjoy the game so in my opinion they should technically be able to go faster as they are using assists after all. However I completely agree with @Gav25182 that there should be a seperate leaderboard for assists and no assists.

Another idea which I think CM should consider is having an overall leaderboard, and coupled with that, a leaderboard for every car. I seen this in driveclub, where they have a seperate leaderboard for each car so you can see how fast you are using a specific car and overall as well
